I’ve put a deposit on a stunning California 30 but the insurance quotes I’m getting are ridiculous.

I’m mid 40’s, clean licence held for nearly 30years, no accidents or claims, 9+yrs no claims. Garaged. Cheapest quote of £1200 but well over £1600 for any companies I recognise. We’ve got 4cars in the stable so to speak.

Given I’ll probably only do 1-2k a year in her I’m struggling to do the man maths on this one given it’s also 630 on tax plus servicing.

Does this seem high to others or should I just accept that’s the right price point?

Thanks in advance.

It depends on your post code too. You could try a multi-car policy and combine it with your daily work horse or with your other weekend car, if it is a classic car?

Lockton's run the Ferrari Owners Club scheme.
AiB broker a range of high net worth policies and can offer fleet policies. I have ones with Zurich, Chubb over the years.

Well worth talking to Locktons...

I went with them a couple of years ago and put together a great policy package for 6 cars (including the 2 dailies) with agreed values on the California & Classics. Bonus is that I have unlimited mileage, fully comp on other vehicles, any driver over 35 comprehensive on my cars, class 1 business use and track day cover for FOC (and Ferrari North Europe) events in the California when I want it.

We use AIB for an early California and it's somewhere in the five hundreds. A little older than you but not massively so.

Comparing prices with others is pointless unless you both live in exactly the same postcode with exactly the same car and are the same age etc.
Locktons are worth a shout as is A Plan and with a fleet policy even more so.
I use Nowell and Richards as do quite a few on here but whoever they place the insurance with won’t necessarily be the cheapest.

The major thing to consider with insurance is how will they support you if you have to make a claim?
I speak from recent, and ongoing, pain.

Make sure you have an agreed value with anything expensive and open to interpretation.
