Just about to dip my feet into the ferrari world for the first time. What's the best way to approach an inspection? Is it best to book it in to a local dealer or is it best to use a specialist?

Cheers.

Buy one from a main Ferrari dealer is my best advice.

Really, why? If it's never left the network and has been well maintained what's the difference if I get it properly inspected? As I'm sure you know, they aren't exactly 2 a penny so choices are limited.

I've had a few Ferraris and only one bought from an independant. In my experience buying one with the official Ferrari approved warranty carries extra peace of mind. This all depends on the quality of the independant of course and what warranty they include. If you get it inspected then you've made proper due diligence.
Another point is quite a few Ferraris deemed not good enough to be retailed by main dealers are sold on to various indys not subject to the same standards. These are the Ferraris you want to avoid buying.
My dealer Dick Lovett in Swindon are excellent to deal with and happen to have a couple of Speciales for sale right now.

and if you believe a certain you tuber a couple of cars from their haven't been all that, and the dealer may not have been all that willing to correct. Allegedly hehe I have no personal knowledge to go on.

I wouldn't touch my local main dealer with a barge pole, I really dislike the entire organisation and they are across most brands in our area. I am most disgusted that I am going to have to send my 458 there to maintain the full service history. (It will be going to my trusted indie afterwards to make sure it's not been bodged).

Generally I think it is the car that counts, but you really want an indie with a good reputation.
