the battery on my 2018 488 spider has died and I have been quoted an outrageous (even by Ferrari standards) cost to replace and fit a new one
I can source a new one at a much more sensible cost but the process outlined on U tube to take the old one out seems overtly complex including trim removal
has anyone any thoughts or comments please
thanks
Bob

In 2021 I wrote up some notes on Lithium vs Sealed Lead Acid Batteries (AGM) for 458 (all models) /488 (GTB and Spider, NOT Pista)/F8 (Tributo and Spider) I posted it on FChat (link below).

Over my time with 430, 458, and now a 488 I must have changed out about 4-5 batteries. It is really important to keep and eye on battery voltage, especially on cold cranking. The battery in my 2018 488GTB died middle of last year. It had the optional OEM "long life" graded battery. The OEM Part No 70002536. Eurospares have them at £305 + VAT. It is actually an Odyssey PC1220F with a "Ferrari" logo on it. They are bit tricky to source best price I got was an Amazon. Other AGMs are fine, the thing about Odyssey is the cold cranking ampere (CCA) capacity – these cars draw huge current on cranking and if the voltage drops even a little the dash will through up all sorts of bizarre errors.

Now fitting a battery in a 488GTB/Spider is a real pain, much harder than in a 458. You need to take some trim off, and be a strong contortionist.
Hope that helps.

Next time look at the LiFePO4 Supercar batteries from JackWebbMotorsport.co.uk - CCA is unbelievably high - 150 - 2200 amps. AH capacity from 180ah PBEQ to 330ah! They are amazing! They are making a kit for the Pista too!
