Guys

All the pics I see of peoples cars make them look pristine,
The front of mine looks like I've driven through a gravel trap 50 times.

I don't really care and intend to keep driving it regularly, but wondered if I am alone in this?

There is a difference between neglecting a car and driving it hard

I am with you - my cars are scratched and stonechipped too - if you drive on narrow Italian and Austrian roads, it is basically unavoidable to hit stuff. Does not mean they are mechanically neglected etc.

It’s never bothered me ever since 25 yrs ago while collecting my Testarossa from a franchised dealer .
Not my car but a new ish one ( F car ) there was a guy with a modlers tiny air brush touching up the stone chip rashes .
At the time paintwork was seen as a negative by buyers , thoughts of respray for rust or covering accident damage etc .
The bloke told me “ all the cars in there ( show room with 15 cars ) were “ prepared “ .
Sure enough I went back into the showroom and yep not one stone chip or scratch on any car some approaching 10 yrs old .

Fast Fwds to today I was in my local Porsche centre recently after a part and ended up “ in the back ‘ ,A full paint booth temperature controlled and 5 front bumpers off on stands being prepared to meet the 111 point standards.

So look at it this way it’s like having a beautiful woman and not 7**king her ……( not driving your nice car ) ….you are just leaving her ( your car ) for the next guy ?

When it comes to offloading/ part ex ing your nice car in this case a Ferrari , the sales guy just offers you the book value , or enough to sweeten the next deal .They are gonna “ prepare it “ any how and that inc paintwork.
If it’s not up to approved standard ( missed a stamp or what ever ) then it’s gonna be sent into the trade.Trade also paint out stone chips etc ,

I don’t get guys who never 7**k there wives or drive there nice cars inc Ferrari .

Madness they miss out .

Now that's a first using not 7**king wifey in the same terminology as not driving your super car,

the difference is the car has no choice whether being driven or not ,where the wife does, eg headaches, hair washing night,

Just try locking the wife up in a garage for weeks .

Every chance that there maybe someone else's wife is being serviced if yours isn't.

Getting back to thread ,my GTB has covered 155,000 miles ,showing 55,000 as on it's second time round on road and track,

owned it for 28 years and is a little battle scared ,rear is a little exhaust stained and the splitrims look more black than the polished

alloy they should be but i love it that way ,like a old armchair or nicely broken i pair of boots,

Got other cars that i lavish more time on cleaning and fussing over even when there not even dirty,

Long range weather reports before i even think about taking the covers off.

The GTB is a keeper ,probably unsaleable with that mileage anyway.

Besides my nipper who was 7 when i bought it now 35 will disown me if i did sell it. rolleyes

On Saturday I saw a 488 in black covered in road rash, foreign plates and a good number of go-pros mounted. Seems to be driven hard and often.

What buyers seem to forget is that most of the shiney mint looking cars at dealerships have actually been detailed to death. You’ll be surprised how much value they add back to the car.
