I've loved having the F430 Spider even though it's been a mildly frustrating experience. I've never managed to get on with the Daytona seats both from a comfort and driving position perspective and the rattles and vibration from the exhaust system have driven me nuts at times.

My time with the car will draw to a close next year I'm sure so I don't know where to go next, budget is capped(ish) to the cost of the F430 so I was thinking of a McLaren 570S or downsizing to a Westfield. I'd love a 458 Spider but prices have gone daft so that's out.

Ideas welcomed!

Boxster / Cayman From £3 K “to the limits you set “

Bank the cash diff or if financed keep the payments yourself until the current economic picture becomes more readable .

Another f430 with carbon race seats ?

However having said that I currently have a strong Porsche itch so how about a 911 GTS ?

Lots of love for Porsche! I had one of the early Boxsters and absolutely loved it so certainly not off the table. The defining characteristic of the F430, it's noise at the top end especially, is the thing I would miss the most so be interesting to see how close I can get to it with something else.

Car that screams at the top end, happy in a Westfield, try an Exige 350 / 410

It did cross my mind but it's more can than I want or will ever need. Big bugger as well.

After a weekend of pondering, a single test drive in a car that massively underwhelmed me and a predictable conversation with a sales bloke, probably nothing. I think I have car buying fatigue.

Have you then considered the V10 route, Gallardo/R8. Personally think the V10 has a wider range than the V8 and just as intoxicating top end, much as I loved my 360 spider which arguably was slightly sweeter sounding than the 430. Anyway just a suggestion as you have requested. Nice dilemma to have. Enjoy the choosing.

I would consider V10 route.

I have recently sold a Huracan LP580-2 with a racing exhaust.

I did manage to track it twice (difficult re noise levels) and the pace wasn't much different to a 458 and it had little to no understeer.

The noise was ridiculous, I spent so much of my time looking for tunnel's ! Proper F1 V10 scream that left all buzzing even after a gentle drive!

Why did I sell it !!!!!

Know what you mean about the Daytona seats, you sit too high and it completely ruined the drive of the F430 for me. I swapped out into a 458 with the carbon race seats…way more suited to his type of car and still very comfy to sit in.

Try a Boxster Spyder….you’ll be surprised how good they are.

Naturally No.1 choice but was already on the OP's shortlist. I think buyers forget that the McLaren's rev to 8,500 rpm so they are screamers, especially for turbo cars, that's only 500rpm below a GT3 with an NA engine. The Exige is short geared so you can use high revs quite a lot and that's quite rare these days. Someone above suggested a Boxster Spyder. I used to drive mine in 2nd gear on the M25 to get the revs up, not a car that you can hear 'scream' very often, but very nice none the less.
