288 GTO Evolution for Sale
Discussion
So, what do we reckon it'll go for?
I saw one for sale a few years ago, but never saw any prices so I'm curious as to where this would be pitched, essentially a prototype, but also a ltd edition 288GTO, which are £2m+ of anyone's money, and also, essentially an F40? Curious.

It's essentially a test mule for the F40 - It wasn't designed to look good, it was designed to test the mechanical parts for the F40.It was also designed deliberately, to give no real hint of what the F40 would look like.
This was the Enzo test mule:
Doesn't look much like an Enzo, does it?
(It was interesting to see they used a 348 front end and doors, rather than a 355's)

Mega.
But, if you could buy it would you really take it to a track day?
What do we reckon, to the nearest million?
I'd imagine Ferrari would provide all you need on a Clienti day so I probably would, but your average session at Oulton or whatever, probably not. But, if you could buy it would you really take it to a track day?

As for cost, I reckon 3.5m

Eh ?It was also designed deliberately, to give no real hint of what the F40 would look like.
The 288 GTO EVO was built from the 288 GTO using the basic same engine and chassis for group B racing which got cancelled.
One of the built cars was then used as a mule for the F40 but it wasn't "designed deliberately, to give no real hint of what the F40 would look like"
About 20 years ago I happened to go past Donnington Park midweek and popped in to see if anything was on. There was a private track day where there was a 288GTO Evo being driven in anger. I didn't realise what it was at the time, as it looked like a dimma-kitted 348. There was also a Porsche GT1, a 993GT2 and a few others so it was with suitably esteemed company
