first Ferrari - f355?
Discussion
I'm at the point where I'd going to change toy car. I do sort of fancy something where the roof comes off or partly does.
I've looked at 360's before, however the looks of the f355 do it for me.
I've a lovely lovely 993, however I want something that feels a little more 'special'.
would it brake me? anywhere in the southwest that main knows them well? what particularly to look for?

25 yrs old & more fragile than 360 & later models - wide sills for entry - in SW Carrs despite being main dealer are a good bet - its not like Porsche with a specialist in every tiny hamlet - lots of previous threads with advice

Lot of these cars have seen decreasing use as values have risen.
If you've owned a 993 that's a good start, I would say the 355 CAN be perfectly decent and reliable, but it also CAN throw big bills at you.
My advice would be inspect before purchase, drive the hell out of it in the first month and inspect again!
And enjoy it, they're an awesome car and a lovely drive - though the steering in the Porsche is miles better

Hi folks, sorry to go off subject. I too are currently considering the purchase of a f355f1.
My problem is that I am unsure if I would be able to get out of the car once it is parked in my garage.
I know previous threads have commented on this subject but I don’t seem to be able to find a definitive answer.
I can get the car through the door assuming car is 1980 wide with the mirrors extended, with about 140 mm clearance each side but once the car is inside I would only have about 330 mm from side of car to the wall if car is parked centrally. Due to the width of the 355 sill / door I’m not sure if I would be able to get out of the car.
Pushing car in or out is not an option as I have a fairly steep driveway.
My garage dimensions are length… 4510 mm and internal width…. 2540 mm.
I would greatly appreciate your feedback.

I have learnt over the years that the only way to answer these sorts of questions is to try it with an actual car.My problem is that I am unsure if I would be able to get out of the car once it is parked in my garage.

I would say you wont get out, not only are the cills wide but the doors are thick too. Get a spider and leaver the top down 👍. Dont listen to all the doom mongers on here about how old they are and running costs, they are a great looking car and as with any of these cars you can get a painful bill , but buy wisely get it inspected then enjoy !My problem is that I am unsure if I would be able to get out of the car once it is parked in my garage.

Hi folks, thank you for replies. Unfortunately I cannot actually physically try a car which would have been ideal.
I suspect that due to door and cill width I do not have enough room to get out of car which was a Berlinetta.
Also appreciate that f1 box would maybe not the best for my driveway. Maybe need to build an extension to garage to fulfill my dream 😂

My garage has a 2130mm opening and is 2440mm wall to wall inside. Mirrors folded, I can drive my F355 in and out no bother. Getting out is fine if you are limber, or if you are able to put it closer to the passenger side wall. And you have an extra 10cm width over me, oo-er missus etc. My problem is that I am unsure if I would be able to get out of the car once it is parked in my garage.
