Does anyone think a high spec 360 Spider in manual is destined to be a future classic and command a premium? Im not buying one as an investment but it feels OK not to lose as much as I might.

When i was looking for my 430 around four and a half years ago the price difference was around £35K between a manual and F1

for low mileage cars ,thinking i could buy a very nice car for that amount i went for a the F1 ,

Prior to this i thought i had bought a 360 manual with huge spec but was let down by the seller at last minute,

The price difference then on the 360 manual compared to the F1 was very small compared to the 430's,probably

only around £5K /£10K depending on mileage.

If things have remained the same i would have thought that the 360 manual has got some catching up to do in this respect.

Never got on with the F1(could be me) and sold my car to a Australian only last week, now seriously thinking about going backwards

and looking for a manual 360 or 355, they both sound better than the 430 (unless fitted with a Capristo sports exhaust ,

sports cats and headers) although getting a little old now so i would expect more maintenance and not as quick as a 430.. scratchchin

Great answer except I don't see a manual 360 as going back. I've just sold a Mclaren to go back to old school and can't wait

Probably i put it in the wrong context, having owned the 430 for four and a half years along side my competion 308 GTB owned for 27 years

i never look at driving the GTB as going backwards more a different type of drive.

I think the 430 is a better car than the 360 ,more up to date ,little touches like the starter button on the steering wheel,

the malatina switch and a more up to date dash and interior, things like the rear Enzo lights are a personal choice but i love them

I think the 430 compared to the 458 is last of the analogue V8's '

Going from a McLaren to a 360 must feel like going from a Spitfire to a Lightning fighter jet in a good way,

Sometimes you got to go backwards to go forward,

After saying all that the 360 sounds so much better without having to spend £10K plus on the exhausts and a further £40K plus

for a manual box version,

Been told the F1 change on the 360 is a little jerky compared to the F1 on the 430 but never having driven one i don't know ,

It would have to be a manual for me whether it be the 360 or 355 as i might as well kept the F430.

Highly likely they will stay firm. More mass market computerization is a good thing for the classic market in general

360 is a great fun car with enough power for the road, and nice short fun gearing, pleasant steering. I don’t see how anyone would need much more from a Supercar really.

Just buy well and be prepared to spend on maintenance. The niggles can add up in cost, but obviously buying well to start with puts you ahead. Hopefully you’ve got a good one. While I’m a spider guy, I also think the Modena is the more sensible purchase these days as there’s that bit less to go wrong and no hassle with dodgy roof seals etc.

Oh, and I think prices will always be held back a little due to the fact that whatever anyone says they do need reasonable spend from time to time. Stuff like ball joints are basically consumables on them, before you even look at something bigger going wrong.

Short clip of one being used well - no talking & no music…. https://youtu.be/p-kMrxEB9F8

I think one of these would give me more pleasure than even a 458, let alone the later models.
Certainly top of my ‘want list’.

According to howmanyleft there are 3500 Triumph Spitfires still registered in the UK, and circa 37,000 MGB/MGBGT (yeah, I was surprised), compared to about 100 Toyota Carinas.

Numbers aren't the sole definition of a classic smile

it's some good advice - that I just can't take...but who would have thought, it figures.
