360 Manual buying advice
Discussion
Hi All
I am thinking of buying a 360 manual Spider. Its very strong money at 80k but looks a nice car (subject to inspection and I just wondered if the group feel this is way over where it needs to be as I have seen them in the 50s upwards. Its a sub 30k mile car but the service history does have a couple of 3 year gaps between services, is that a deal breaker on these? I realise they are old tech now but its just a trip down memory lane purchase, as I couldnt afford one 20 years ago and always craved one.

Personally don’t think service history in the sense of every year same month is not worth all that much. It is more about what was done during services.
My Scuderia just had 2 5-digit bills in 3 years for remedial works - eg both manifolds, new exhaust. So I would look more at what has been done to the car as opposed to has it had an annual oil change
On my 355 I had to replace tons of stuff, basically the same in service bills as in purchase price over 2.5 years and I had a PPI done on that that did not show any material things
The 360 was also quite cheap at some point, so the IMO it matters even more to see what was done or if people just traded out of it again without doing the works
I think paying more for the right car is sensible, but paying more for a good polish and nice dealer pics maybe not so much

Seems a lot of money from your description of service history and mileage.
My biggest concern would be the cloth roof on a 20 yr old car and the scrimping on annual servicing for 3 years
We have a 360 and a 430 Spider and neither cloth roof has caused us any issues, it's like anything else - look after it, it should look after you :-)My biggest concern would be the cloth roof on a 20 yr old car and the scrimping on annual servicing for 3 years
To the original poster, Is the car you are referring to the one at Bells?

The days of aspiring to a £50k manual 360 are long gone I am thinking of buying a 360 manual Spider. 80k is toppy money for a 360 manual with 30k miles but not necessarily overpriced. Does it have many options, carbon seats are particularly expensive .
I think there has been some good advice on this thread already. These cars are getting on now so if they only get the basic service done every year that doesn’t mean there aren’t other irks that should really be attended to. So look at the bills not just the stamps.
If you are in Kent I would certainly recommend Aldous at AV Engineering
I see the likely contender at Bell Sport is reserved so I hope that you got it already!

Long way to go yet, but I think CC prices have been softening. Looks decent.

The Yellow 360 was actually my car it was strong money but it was a very strong car. It has indeed now gone to it's new owner there was no expense spared when I had it but there are also some right dog cars out there at the moment up for crazy prices which I cannot see selling there is a blue spider that was originally at 79 k on auto-trader and they have raised it to 85 k that has been for sale for over a year. Everything is only worth what someone is willing to pay I did not need to sell just felt it was time to move on. Good luck in finding one.
