I must admit, when i first started listening to the (premium) audio system in the 488 my initial thoughts were - what a load of crap.

I've spent some time adjusting the settings and it now sounds pretty good, but the settings are not what you'd consider conventional.

I found the default sound much too forward and extremely tinny, uncomfortably so.

But i have now set Treble -1, Mid +2 and Bass all the way up to +9 and it sounds much better in my ears.

I've also set the speakers back a couple of notches on the Fader.

I am still unsure if i prefer Quantum Logic on or off but the surround effect on works quite well in the car.

Obviously we're not comparing to proper hi-fi here, but i find these settings much more pleasing to the ear.

And yes - most of the time it's off, but even in a Ferrari, the pain of sitting in traffic can be eased by some tunes smile

I have the upgraded system in my F8 Spider after having only the base system in my now departed 488 GTB and they are night and day different. It's not real hi-fi of course, even though it is priced at such and if you like to listen to some choones, worth having.

Is the radio reception any better in the F8 / 488 than the 458?
I presume that wouldn't be affected by the sound system upgrade?

I don’t know what it was like on the 458 but pretty poor on the 488, better on the F8. I mainly stream via Bluetooth and using the BBC Sounds app is a better way to listen to the radio. Requires mobile internet of course. Who would have thought in this day and age that picking up a decent FM signal could be so difficult? Also makes you wonder whether DAB will be left to wither on the vine.

Now you mention it, i have found the radio to crackle a bit, but as BlueSL says, streaming is the way forward. TuneIn radio app is great.
