Happy New Year all!

My NY resolution is to become a Ferrari owner and I’ve decided on a Rosso Corsa 458 spider. Have read lots of posts and buyers guides from this forum and have been very helpful.

Rybrook Birmingham have a very well specified example with CF Nero/Alcantara seats and all the other toys. It has 5 owners and 23k miles and is up for £160k.

I’m nervous that I’d wait for months, watch prices rise and all the while not find a good example (happened to me with previous 911) so after thoughts on this example based on high(ish) ownership and 23k miles.

It’s got full FSH but obviously not the power warranty - Would that concern you? Any advice gratefully received. This is a bucket list purchase that I will likely keep for many years but don’t want to throw away my precious hard earned.

I'd probably talk to them about putting a power warranty on it, it's £2,880 to add it for a Year

I think the rybrook car looks like a nice example with all the right option boxes ticked..i would have bought it in a shot it I hadn't picked up my grigio ferro car I september as it is the exact spec I wanted.

Owners count is fairly usual by this age I think. They tend to be weekend toys so dont often get kept that long.

Mileage is okay tbh my car has 25k on it and no issues at all.

Regarding the warranty they are asking all the money for it so I would expect a power warranty included in the deal. Its winter so even with hot 458 market I think you have some negotiating room - my car was only 145k with 24,900 on the clock and balance of ferrati approved warranty and has every option box ticked plus thr extra cost historical paint so I think you are paying a premium for a rosso car.

If you want the car I would suggest not messing about and getting a deal.done - rosso cars with carbon seats tend to sell very quickly so if you procrastinate you may have a long wait for a equivalent example.. I missed 3 cars by not getting on it and ended up with a grey car which I'm actually happy with.

Fantastic car - I really cant fault it as a package and with the roof down the noise and experience is just sublime.

Agree it’s a nice spec. Miles are higher than average in this price bracket so might give you some wriggle room.

Suggest you also call around Ferrari dealers and ask if they have anything coming through. They differentiate by having to put a 2 year warranty on their cars and quite often they have been the same dealer servicing the car so will know it’s history.

Good luck and let us know how you get on!

Nice spec car apart from red carpets and red calipers but guess they can be changed to black carpet and yellow calipers easy enough
High miles and high owners suggest to me its all the money and a bit more as well.
Not many alternative cars with that spec on market at mo so they are pushing their luck with the premium on a premium car.
If you are going to keep it long term maybe £10k extra is not a big deal but if you need to swap it in 12/18 mths down the line for any reason and the market softens off this peak you could be exposed to £30k IMHO.
There will be more cars on the market in a couple of months but if you can negotiate a really good deal now whilst dealers are quiet get it bought. Cash is king

One of the members in the 458 WhatsApp group is about to sell his car back to the dealer ( spider) that’s Rosso and a lovely spec.

Great looking car and big spec.

I’d agree with another poster on here about power warranty, at least say “I’ll pay the deposit, but I want the car to go to Ferrari to have a warranty check.” That way you’ll know from Ferrari if there are any issues and you can get the warranty applied if it’s good to go.

I bought my first spider a few months ago and love it. Such a fantastic car.

I think he's already sold it to the dealer and drops it off next week. Maybe there is still a chance to get the car before it goes.

Definitely worth a conversation either way! If anyone could get me in contact with the seller, I’d be extremely grateful.

Spec looks great. I must admit I really don't like the carpet colour. My car is nero interior and I'm biased but I think it looks much better in nero - picture below.

I would def make sure its service is done before you buy it - I'm guessing as it was registered in January, the service must be this month. For that price, you could buy from a main dealer for the same miles and get a 2 year warranty. So I would get a Power15 warranty included.

It doesn't seem to have PPF - again, maybe you could negotiate a paint correction and full PPF. Mine has a ceramic coating and PPF and the paintwork looks as-new (2013 car). You could also ask for a Warranty Wise 3 year warranty which costs about 4k.

I'm not saying you could get all of that, just those are some ideas on where you might negotiate.

I paid 153k for my 2013 spider on 15500 miles back in September. Spec is very similar.

Can I just add a recommendation for Rybrook Birmingham. I’ve bought 6 cars from their Specialist Cars division and they are proper people selling proper cars, so you buy there with confidence. They have been more than fair with me - probably why I keep emptying my bank account there on a regular basis…

A ferrari should always have red carpets even if they constantly look like a badly cleared murder scene. Normal cars have black carpets leave that for the normal cars wink

Looks a lovely car on the face of it.

It’s really not high mileage, nor should the number of owners at 5 be a concern! These cars were made to be driven and enjoyed. The 458 is a superb car. More are likely to come to the market as we approach spring but I wouldn’t expect in great numbers. Took me over a year to find mine and I finally purchased last summer. Enjoy the search, it’s all part of the fun.

Average ownership of a fez is 12 months so 5 is towards the lower end. A lot of people buy them to tick a box and then move on. My car has 7 on a 2012 but saw cars with 8 and 9 when I was looking 18 months back.

I think this refers to my car and is an Italia not a spider which the OP is looking at spider.
Deal agreed with MD but until keys handed over nothing is concrete.
