fitting a decent radio / satnav to a 360
Discussion
How badly do you want/need a sat nav? I can make do with a Garmin but I've just fitted (I lie, my local audio specialist did) an Audison amp and Focal speakers to my original F430 Becker head unit and the results are extraordinary. Not cheap but at least I can listen to some streamed tunes on a long journey with a decent set up.

Very nice kit. If I could be bothered to spend that much I could go for that. For me I am not sure it’s worth it in a car that only does a couple of thousand miles a year. I have a slight upgrade on standard and it’s good enough for streaming music and DAB radio at a decent quality.
I certainly wouldn’t be bothering with Sat Nav beyond a phone mount.
Aye, I did wonder whether it was worth it given the miles I do but the original system was so awful that I just couldn’t live with it what with me being a bit of an audiophile and all that. I’d also planned a trip to Italy this year as well so although that didn’t come off there’s always next year.
Currently trying to decide what to do with mine. It had a alpine head unit with a fold out screen. That died. Stop gap is £90 Sony head unit.
I need decent nav for road trips and phone mount isn’t good enough.
Can’t decide whether to source an original becker and buy a Garmin nav or get a unit with a fold out screen.

I stayed with the Becker in the end as Ferrari wanted stupid money for the flip out screen jobber (a rebranded Clarion unit that miraculously tripled in value once the word Ferrari was printed on it) and a Garmin. True, the Garmin is a bit of a pain but I do so few journeys where I really need a sat nav so not too fussed really.

Its the sat nav bit that I want both because anything is better than a Garmin stuck to the windscreen but also because I want effective scam detection / warning.
Most build in sat-nav's aren't "better" - because they are always massively out of date. Are aftermarket head units kept up to date more?ANOpax said:
Looked at that as I like Alpine nav, especially unlimited way points, but I think it looks wrong in the car, covers the heater controls and part of the ventsI used a Tom Tom to travel down to Italy in my 360 and it worked well. It is a bit bulky, but since it's rarely used in the UK it was no big deal.
One of my current cars doesn't have sat nav, so still use the Tom Tom or my phone in that.
One of them does have sat nav - but annoyingly, stops whatever music I'm streaming 90% of the time it gives a navigation instruction which is really annoying. So started using my phone in that car instead - again, it's rare you need it anyway.
