Are Ferraris a target for car thieves?
Discussion
Probably a stupid question, of course they are right! Reason I ask is that (hopefully the short term) I need to leave my 458 outside (under an expensive car cover mind) but it's driven several times a week and people know it's there. I live in a nice area which is relatively low crime, some people have had cars stolen (mainly AMGs) but it's far from common. I'd convinced myself that no one would steal my 458 because:
a) they are too distinctive to use in other crimes (that's where the A45s come in)
b) joyriding seems to be a thing of the past as you need to break into someone's house to get the keys, bit much for a joyride
c) anyone stealing to order would go for a newer Ferrari and probably target central London where there are loads just left on the roads
Do you think the above is right, or am I just trying to make myself feel better and I should fast track finding some secure parking? Has anyone had any bad experiences?

why steal a ferrari which is hard to shift on very niche parts market for breaking and not exactly subtle when you can steal an Golf R/ Audi RS3/4/6 etc which is quicker and more discrete for doing bad things, subtle so you can park it in any multistory watching for a tracker ping without it drawing attention , easier to stick a cloned plate on who would look twisce at an audi in any shade of grey or silver even a fast one and if you steal it to break theres a million little scrotes that will happily buy all the parts off you to fit on their 1.6 tdis just look on ebay at the number of hot VW/Audi parts for sale.
seats £2000
headlights £1000
Bumper £500
steering wheel £400
gearbox £3000
engine £7000
sat nav clocks trims etc another £2000
all of which will sell in days on ebay. thats £15000 in common parts that you could strip off in a day. and sell by the end of the week ferrari might be more valuable but both cars and parts are a lot harder to shift so no interest from the scrotes

Unfortunately, living in a decent area with low crime is often an attraction to the professional gangs that acquire and trade stolen cars.
I do agree with other posts in terms of 458 not being a common target.
Where I live range rovers and SUVs left on street are the main targets as their key fob systems have long been compromised and widely shared in those circles.
