488 Problems (pulling away from jct/roundabouts)

I'm experiencing problems with my 488 I will try to explain the problem as best I can, if people can chip in and give me their thoughts.
So I've had my 488 for a couple of months and love it but what I'm experiencing Is a loss in power as I'm pulling away from junctions/roundabouts, It's as though the car is in the wrong gear as I pull out, It either dies (the revs not the engine) or I have to put a load of revs to pull out which is embarrassing or dangerous. Car is booked in from them to look at but I was interested to see if anyone else had had similar problems and the remedy.

Does it do this if you have the car in ESC off and in manual? Once you have pulled out does the car pull hard as it should in higher gears like 2nd, 3rd etc.

Once it's moving it's great! One thing I have noticed is it will be in 7th gear and i'm doing 20 MPH which would have never happened
in my previous cars.

The whole point is to try and rule out issue, so ESC off, manual mode, select 1st and see if it pulls away OK, if it does not then something is very wrong. if it does pull away fine, then try again with it still in manual mode but select sport, if still fine, go to automode but ESC off and if it is troublesome then the issue is the gearbox automatic mode and maybe it just needs a reset or maybe their is a hardware issue.Once it's moving it's great! So it's not just mine that runs that way. Not experienced this before, generally the car should be in a gear that suits the speed

I always drive my 458 in manual (unless on a motorway) but being a bit lazy, if approaching a junction or roundabout I usually just let it change down itself. However shortly after I got the car I was caught out a couple of time when just as I accelerated from walking pace to pull out it decided to change down from second to first causing quite a stutter and delay and embarrassment (and quite a bit of blowing of horns). Since then under these circumstances I always change down manually to first so that I know that when I accelerate there will be no hesitation.
The automatic mode is set to change up as quickly as possible because that means it performs better in the emissions tests, along with auto stop-start, even if the car is then a bit of a dog to drive.
A Porsche PDK is similar, pretty lifeless in normal mode which needs the Sport (or Sport+) button pressed to wake it up.
I’d certainly try the car in manual mode as suggested though be careful of disengaging ESC unless you are certain you can catch it. There’s a video online of someone booting their 812 on I think London Bridge with ESC off and wrecking it. While 661 bhp is not 789 bhp, it’s not far off.

Thanks for the info Blue SL, I have just had a visit to Leeds Ferrari and had a technician sit in with me whilst I tried to replicate
the situation/problem, his conclusion was they are all like this and suggested driving it in Manual mode, which I'm happy to try (and do when in spirited driving mode)
I was a little disappointed, but all these cars have their quirks (you would have never caught my previous GT3 out, it was always
in the correct gear whatever the situation ) I think the emissions (that others have mentioned) has had an effect on the car, I'm driving the car at 20 mph and its in 7th gear, it's going to take a while longer to find its way to 1st or 2nd and I believe (and the Ferrari tech did) this is the hiccup. The 488 box is a derivative of the 458 box. So I'm surprised you notice this as often as you do. I do notice it a little in my 458 but what you can also do is force the gear change whilst still in Auto. So approach the roundabout in Auto, then use the paddle to change down to first or second. This will over ride the Auto for a few seconds whilst you pull away. I sometimes do this, but tbh, 99% of the time the car is fine.
One other thing - you could play around with the throttle pedal. I've also found if you are too soft with the pedal then the car gets a bit confused.
But as I said, I rarely notice this in the 458

Coming to a junction slowly, I was due to stop before turning right but noticed that I can pull out quickly before car approaching from the left.
The car sought of died the revs/stop started effect then gave me boost which coming from a NA V8 not really a nice experience. That I think is a norm if you get that scenario on a Turbo/stop start Ferrari V8?
