Just caught my front underneath on a steep drop and got home to find a little pipe hanging down, which you can see in the centre of the picture. I’ve not noticed this before so assume something isn’t right. Does anyone know what this is? Something is dripping from it but has stopped now.

Additionally there seems to a melting/dripping effect underneath the car, is this some kind of sealant failing?

Any help/guidance would be much appreciated.

Well, this is what I was hoping but I’m not sure.

looks like air con drawing moisture from the cabin and feeding the drip pipe

put a plastic container underneath to collect when you first fire up and run the a/c and confirm it's just clear water

What andrew said ^

I assume you've not noticed before because you've not previously knocked the front, so haven't been focused on inspecting the underside of the car?

It's hard to tell from the photo but would not be surprised if this was simply a drain tube for either overflowed coolant or simply water draining normally from the A/C system.

Thanks everyone I think you are all right, panic over! It just seems to project quite a long way from the car but it is just water under the car.

I think you are right, I haven’t noticed it before because I haven’t been inspecting it in this way.

My 458 is doing something similar, but in the cabin.

My passenger footwell with AC on full blast if taking a corner hard the passenger gets cold/wet feet all of a sudden.
I do need to check but I am guessing an AC pipe has come off or moved?

I can't speak for 458s specifically, but that's usually the result of the condensate drain tube getting blocked and the tray where the condensed water is caught then overflows after a while. Had the same on my 993 one hot day - quite disconcerting!

Most likely the drain tube from the bottom of the heater box has become dislodged, but have it checked out in case the root cause is a failing heater matrix.
