Hi Guys,
Would anyone know if i have an exhaust leak after the precat o2 Sensor but before the post Cat O2 sensor, would this cause a CEL ? i have slight leak where the exhaust manifold joins onto the exhaust (an after market manifold has been fitted for a while now)
I have the code stating a lean mixture and im suspecting a leak at the head manifold joint
Any info / advice would be appreciated
thanks

I assume that the aftermarket manifolds do not have pre-cats, in which case that is the likely cause. My 06 car was less sensitive in that regard than my 08; as time went on Ferrari reduced the calibrated warning threshold.
Sometimes leaks do cause these issues due to reversion i.e. fresh air can be sucking in, but it's much more likely to be the lack of pre-cats - if they have been removed.

Hi,
Thanks for all the above, I will do a few more checks. I cannot see anything obvious after inspection of the manifold gaskets. Could it be a faulty o2 sensor ?
I know that the new manifolds may throw the occasional CEL, I can live with that but I want the engine running as it should ie not lean or rich

Thanks Guys. I have now fitted the O2 extenders in the post CATS. The readings on the OBD App are showing now showing a much smoother graph on the post sensors and surprisingly the SHort term fuels stats look better on the pre cat O2 sensors too.
Time will tell if the CEL comes back on

I'm not sure whether this will help or not but I've had a simar problem (albeit on a Lotus 111R) and resolved it by fitting two extenders to each O2 sensor. Installing one extender made resulted in the CEL illuminating intermittently but installing two fixed it permanently. If there isn't sufficient room to install two try a 90 degree extender.
