Hi - looking to buy a 458 Spider in the next few weeks. I've got quite a specific spec car I am after.

Can anyone recommend a specialist that could find my spec car ? Was taking a look at AVS - but many others look pretty dodgy with poor reviews. I would rather buy from main dealer, but they don't have the right stock currently. Cheers !

Hi,
5 in the dealer network this evening.
https://preowned.ferrari.com/en/gb/search/used-fer...

I would suggest you make contact with a few of the main dealers and tell them your spec. I know Dick Lovett well, they are selling the most F cars in Europe at the moment. They could look out for a car for you. I can give you a name at DL in Swindon if you are interested.

Hi - thx. I visited Graypaul and gave them my spec. If you could send me a name for DL that would be great.

Any view on a dealer finding the right car vs a specialist ? I'm after a high spec 2014/2015 car. Approx budget is 170k

What spec are you looking for ?
Are you sticking on colour and interior and/or specific options ?

Please do not take this the wrong way but if your spec is too detailed your car effectively may not exist - there quite simply aren't that many of any given spec so the chances of finding a car with a very detailed set of requirements may not be realistic especially given the current 458 popularity

There are fewer than 600 according to howmanyleft which means only a few dozen of each body colour maximum which means only a handful of each colour change hands each year

Hi - yes, I realised I'm being quite picky. I've got a must have/ could compromise list.

This was perfect for me - https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11537070

There’s currently two 458 spiders on PH rosso/crema with full electric seats. Do neither of these suit?

I saw the GvE one - but their reviews are terrible, especially with Ferrari's. Some horror stories online of people saddled with big repair bills.

The other one looks pretty good, but I think its a bit overpriced for a 2013 car and its had 4 owners. I'm after 1 owner, max 2. If it was 10-15k cheaper then maybe.

My question was really around finding someone to help me source the right car (for me).

The only company I can see is AVS. Has anyone used a car finding company before ?

I have spoken to the main dealers (not DL though yet)

This is exactly the trap I fell into when looking for a F430 Spider. I had a list of options that were essential but basically made the car a unicorn.

1 or 2 owners on a 458 is - at this point in time - probably unrealistic, unless you're happy to pay a kings ransom for a garage queen.

Not sure I agree with that. I’ve had my 458 spider since new in 2013 and it’s no garage queen.

I think 1 or 2 owners is tough, but they are out there. What I dont want is one that has changed hands each summer.

1 or 2 owners would have looked after the car fanatically. (like I do!). Graypaul had a car with 8 previous owners - just no way I would touch that.

I think part of your problem will be that most of the people who have had them from new have no intention of selling.

In a roundabout way that was my point, the cars that are still in the original or second owner's possession aren't going to be coming up for sale often, whereas the ones with several owners (not unusual at all) would be.

Doesn’t this guy source cars for clients ?
Seems very well thought of in the McLaren world

Try talking to Joseph Quinn at Supercar Sourcing. He has always helped me buy and sell my cars. Top bloke!

Thanks - thats really useful.

I'm just about to view this one - https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/12124405

I've taken the advice that i'm going to have to compromise on some things. It had one service in Marbella, but at a Ferrari main dealer so I don't think that is a concern.

Just to throw a spanner in the works...

(I know nothing about this car or the dealer, just curious about the price differential and thought I'd pass it on)

What’s the cost of renewing the warranty on a 458 spider for a year (or 2?), and is there a check that the dealers need to do? Or only if out of warranty?
