Lovely looking car - great colour. How does it compare to the 458?
Thank youI sold my 458 almost 18 months ago and i am constantly trying to compare them albeit from memory. The biggest thing that worried me was the noise but i have to say whilst it's probably not quite the same this is still fantastic. It's a deeper sound not as high pitched but very addictive all the same. I used to drive the 458 mostly in sport mode but with this it has almost always been in race which makes the gear change that little bit more pronounced. I find i'm shifting just for the sake of it and to hear the sound. the interior is almost the same but with a marked improvement on the electronics and the speed is just insane. Having said that i felt the speed in my 458 was insane at the time too. I regretted selling the 458 the minute it went and although i really enjoyed the 718 Cayman GT4 that i had in between it really never replaced it and i was always yearning to get back into a Ferrari. I did briefly consider going back to a 458 but i wanted the security of the manufacturers warranty the service plan and the newer tech. So far i have absolutely no regrets and i would urge anyone to give the 488 a good test. I know its subjective but much as i loved the looks of the 458 i do also prefer the slightly more aggressive lines on the 488. To me this is the prettiest car out there.
Thanks for the write up.
It’s interesting that you came from a a 718 GT4. My 981 Boxster Spyder is great but I miss the Ferrari thing too now, so I totally understand where you’re coming from.
I think the slight issue with the (undoubtedly brilliant) GT4/Spyder is that they actually have a few compromises in terms of hard ride etc considering they aren’t a supercar. Also how many times do we actually get to enjoy these cars, so it might as well be a special one….
They are also low cars even compared to Ferrari V8s. Meanwhile the 360 spider for example is actually a bit softer which I wouldn’t have necessarily expected without owning both. The 360 was also more enjoyable at any speed than the Spyder because of the hydraulic steering, sense of occasion etc. On the motorway the 360 was the better car too, but owning a Ferrari comes with other costs/challenges.
So size and cost aside, I think for some people it’s almost worth making the leap to a Ferrari V8 and accepting some other challenges that come with living with a super car if you’re into them! Maybe not man maths, but man logic

I was actually reading upon it but my concerns are that I could potentially be risking warranty issues?
I have bought an Approved Used Ferrari from a main dealer with a Forza remote valve controller already installed on it. This suggests to me anyway that Ferrari might be ok with this sort of mod as they happily gave the 2 year approved warranty with the car purchase.Gassing Station | Ferrari V8 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
