For anyone interested. My builder started the conversion today. First port of call was to level out the floor. Once done we will paint.

Jobs to do

- add a raised shelf at the back of the garage to allow for some storage

- remove bike racks

- remove right hand side inner bricks and install steel beam

- install padding on walls

- install garage door protector

- install Ring Floodlight camera system

I may as well share the progress here hey. It’s costing me about £750 for materiel and Labour and around £500 for building reg approval.

Very annoying the garages are so small (92 inch inner wall to wall). Il be here 12 months though, so it’s worth it.

It's really annoying how small they build garages sometimes. We went to look at a nearly new build a few weeks ago and the garage was just over two metres wide with the entrance a fair bit less than that!
Cars get bigger year by year but garages and parking spaces never do ...

Adam, you certainly qualify as an enthusiast. It's worth investing in a weather strip for the garage door; it makes a big difference to the car if you are able to keep the moisture level down. These cars aren't particularly hardy.

Ahhh more money haha.

Would a dehumidifier work better?

Can you advise on a type of weather strip also?

how do you plan on getting out the car when your inside the garage? I would also put power in there so you can have it on trickle charge. If I'm honest I wouldn't bother, id buy a decent car cover then store the car as the weather gets bad. Probably about £1000 for 3-4 months of proper storage when the weather comes in.
Go to any Ferrari dealership and most of the 2nd cars live outside anyway.

We are removing the inner right section of blocking, hence the steel beam.

It has a charging point to the right buddy!

Always have a dehumidifier. Needs a tube to drain out the garage and power obviously

Well bad news today. My builder happens to know a property developer with a California. He was nice enoguh to bring it over and it won’t fit through the dam door. So this project is fked lmao.

Dam you persimmons

Outdoor cover it is. It’s only for 4 months or so and il store or for winter. I move house in 12 months to a place with a double garage.

I had to build a side extension to my garage so I could get out of my Chevelle once it was in:
