F8 Spider Specification
Discussion
With a bit of time left to lock spec in for my F8 Spider;
Nero
Crema
Daytona Carbon Racing Seats with Lift
Shields
Sports Exhaust
Carbon Bridge, Dash Inserts & Steering Wheel
Yellow Rev Counter
Apple CarPlay
Rear Camera & Front Sensors
Passenger Display
20’ Dark Painted Rims
Any essentials missing?
Thoughts are we don’t need lift, and JBL system not worth it.
Decent deal, should be here just in time for the clocks to go back.

Lift completely unnecessary, in 3 years of use in car parks and odd cambers in my 488, never an issue... my old E92 M3 grounded more easily. Doubt world make much difference for resale.
I appreciate ‘sound systems’ not an issue for many, but the standard system is so poor to be an embarrassment. If trying to keep the costs down I’d much rather have the JBL upgrade, which is much better than it used to be than Apple CarPlay. I have this and never used it (although use it all the time in my other cars) due to the tiny screen and lack of touch/easy integration. You can stream from your phone without it.

My 488 has both JBL and Apple Carplay but no lift. Personally i'd always pick JBL on a modern Ferrari and would avoid one without it. Carplay is nice to have but not as 'must have' as JBL. Lift is totally unnecessary on both F8 and 488 and just adds cost, weight and complexity. All IMHO.
Inside Carbon really lifts the interior ambience and an absolute 'must have' for me personally.

Lift, passenger display and PPF are all ‘for the next owner’ taxes, imo
Passenger display is very cool the first time it’s switched on.., but then value drops to zero.
I would save cash there, and also the lift (I owned a 488 without one)

I've lift and the passenger display on my 488. I like the lift, evening if not strictly necessary. I'd happily bin the passenger display, I think it looks tacky, granted the F8 display is an upgrade. willy wombat said:
Prepare yourself for the barrage of posts advising that if you don’t have racing seats, the car will only be worth scrap value. Personally, I have Daytona seats in my 458 spider and I love them.
Sorry they are the Daytona Style Carbon Seats, I’ve edited the post. Thanks for the reply.garystoybox said:

I wouldn't be speccing the standard seats, sports seats don't heat but Daytona's with contrasting stripe are lovely
I wouldn't have lift, Apple CarPlay, Rear Camera & Front Sensors or Passenger Display and would have silver wheels to brighten the car
But then again my car would be in "white"
ps. did you get a discount on the car?

It sounds obvious, but the lift is useful if you have a reason to use it - e.g. steep driveway / parking garage and trips to Italian villas off the grid over uneven roads - this is when I have used it. Just a piece of mind feature but don’t think the F8 is very low and if you won’t regularly use/need it I would leave it off.
Passenger display is a total gimmick and I prefer the clean look of the passenger side of the dash without it. It’s basically a copy/paste of the Rev counter only - it doesn’t show maps or allow any inputs (just a compass - wtf?!) Also doesn’t work with CarPlay. It’s just a tool for your other half to check your speed and tell you to slow down! Avoid.
I have Apple CarPlay and with iOS 14 updates it works really well - new Home Screen works with the home button so easier to navigate than before. The screen is small but it is crisp and shows waze/spotify really well. In the F8 it is also much better integrated than 488 with scroll buttons and no need to ‘select’ CarPlay button on the side pod. The Siri functionality also works great - easy to dictate and reply to text/WhatsApp messages and new ETA function is useful as sends the contact live updates. It will also improve and update over time so will not date like the ancient Ferrari NAV/maps.
An auto audio specialist can do a much better job than the JBL hi-fi for half the price. I personally thought the JBL was very average in my F12 so would take a chance on the standard setup and you still have £3k+ in the pocket to upgrade at a later date. This is what I have done on my new car and the standard hifi seems absolutely fine. Not as good as Meridian or B&O in my other cars but perfectly acceptable with no distortion or lack of bass - just get the roof down and spend the money on a decat instead!

Anyone been offered a discount on an F8 or Spyder order ?
Looking for the right dealer to buy from or find a dealer with a used white in stock ...
Not Spyder, but F8 yes - Although it was a couple of months back, Ended up getting a Pista Spyder at list.Looking for the right dealer to buy from or find a dealer with a used white in stock ...
Speak to Dan @ Hrowen.
Across 3 modern F's and over 20k miles mostly in Europe, I only ever needed lift once .... in the Ibis in Braganca Portugal, and on that occasion the local fire station let me park there instead, fully secured. I don't spec it anymore.
JBL is essential if you like music because its bad, but the standard system is pretty much unlistenable. Aftermarket is a royal PITA. Some dealers have a person who can fettle afterwards but it's expensive and sounds no better than the JBL.
My only other comment on the spec would be that the F8 interior looks pretty good without too much carbon. It has the central carbon spine by default across the dash and then just the paddles and the steering wheel and you are good to go. So interior carbon and the pointless pass display, I would consider moving those funds to somewhere else. Carbon doesn't necessarily add much on the exterior like it does on other cars but the carbon engine bay is a good choice because it looks so much better with it. You might ultimately get more pleasure from a better looking engine bay than a passenger display.
