I’ve been following this via Normal Guy Supercar. Insane what’s going on with a company called CNC. It looks like a Ponzi scheme of sorts.

This video I’m sharing is a new development. I feel for the guy, but I CANNOT believe he didn’t get a warranty or PPI before buying a 22 year old 360 from a none Ferrari dealer. Gosh, what a st storm.

Could this kind of situation happen in the Uk?

Maybe not quite the same, but plenty of dodgy dealers out there - especially when SoR is involved - look up Verdi Ferrari, Specialist Cars of Malton etc Many stories on this site where car put into "well known, reputable" dealer for sale or return, car is sold, no cash ever returns.

As others have said, it's far from the first time it's happened and I doubt it will be the last.

I've lost count of how many times. First I recall was Blackwater in Wandsworth in the late 90s, I very nearly bought a 355 from them just a few weeks beforehand. As stated, many many since. And some quite dubious outfits still running today via name changes etc.

Indeed.

I feel for the guy, but to be brutally honest listening to him he sounds exactly like the sort of person for whom a warranty and an inspection would pay dividends in terms of peace of mind.

In my opinion the only people who should be buying $100k supercars basically sight unseen sans inspection or warranty are either people who can afford several of them, or are hands on themselves (or know people who are).

I wouldn't even consider buying any reasonably priced out of warranty car from a random dealer or privately without an inspection. I don't really place much value on the one size fits all aftermarket warranties you get, not in terms of covering the big ticket stuff anyway.

I'll never understand the mindset of people who think about saving a few hundred quid on an inspection for a $100k car. They wouldn't skip getting a house survey.

I appreciate this is a bit off topic but whilst house surveys are ubiquitous in the UK, since they are usually a condition of the mortgage, that is not the case elsewhere.

Valuations are; not surveys.
Though there is some overlap, they are not the same thing at all.

Which specialist did you use for the Pre Purchase Inspection of your recently purchased 100k+ 458? and based on your experience of the process, would you recommend them to others looking for a 458 PPI?

I know plenty of people doing contactless supercar purchases (including myself) and I can assure you that inspections are very much part of the process.

Ferrari did it all mate and included a warranty.

I was looking into other none Ferrari cars and if i did get one of them, I would have sent to the closest Ferrari for the check, which is around £500.

I wouldn’t buy a car without a PPI or min 1 year warrantysmile

um, are we watching the same thing. Its not that he spent 100k on the car and that it had a shagged gearbox - they fixed that.

Its more to the point that he then decided to then put it on SOR with CNC, and then CNC sold it, he never got paid, the person who bought took the car away, he then never got the title and now they are both fked - especially as it looks like CNC are going down the pan!
