Many congrats, gorgeous car in any colour. Be amazed if this choice affects resale. You’d have to have one in a pretty bad colour for that to happen I think. As I am sure everyone on PH will say, choose what makes your heart skip when you see it. Totally personal preference.

Me? I’m a traditionalist so would go for Corsa. To my eye the Scuderia is a bit too orange, and Corsa reminds me of Ferrari’s heritage. But then tbh it’s been a while since I bought anything in red, and tend to be more conservative and go for grey and blue these days, so maybe not the right person to advise...

PS if it helps, just found this little summary of the 15 shades of Ferrari red... https://rossoautomobili.com/blogs/magazine/15-shad...

I test drove an F8 in RS and really liked it in the metal. Its slightly lighter than the much more common RC. Personally if i was configuring a new F8 and i had to choose between these two Rossos i'd sway towards Corsa but really splitting hairs.
On an used 458 and if it was exactly what i wanted in both spec, history and condition the different hues of Rossos wouldn't affect my buying decision.

i'd go scuderia Ferrari's racing colour before they started playing with burgundy banghead

Rosso Barchetta, the 355 World Tour car colour. Actually looked stunning in the flesh.

I always think of Rosso Scuderia as more orangey, it will be quite evident when you see it next to Corsa.

Obviously colour such a personal thing... but I would definitely want to see it in person before pulling the trigger. Years ago I almost bought my first Ferrari (430) in Scuderia; deposited, drove 150 miles and then to my disappointment found it just looked orange. I’ve found that pictures/tv do not really show the difference over RC; hence the reason it was originally launched. At least if you see it in the flesh you’ll know if you love it. A RC car will also be better for resale (if that’s even a consideration).

Not sure if it’s much help, but read somewhere that Scud looks best with black interior, Corsa with crema or tan. Not much in it there I suspect either...

Haha, couldn't agree more.
Just for fun, here's mine. It's a shade of green I think. No disrespect to the OP - both reds are gorgeous. :-)

Having been sort of looking too, I've come to the following conclusions:

  • for resale, there is a slight preference for Rosso Corsa as it's the 'red' for the 'red Ferrari' that people are wanting to buy
  • it's becoming less prevalent, however - it used to be that the interior had to be crema, too, but that is viewed as slightly more suitable for the classic cars and people have realised that the greys, blues and so on also look good, and that it's still a Ferrari even if it's not red
  • any price difference between the colours on resale will be pretty much negligible, given all the other factors that will affect resale - state of world economy, service history, your usage, etc etc.
  • depending on the light, the Scuderia looks slightly brighter and slightly towards the more orange part of the red spectrum - but it's not orange by any shakes of the imagination
  • it's a purely discretionary purchase, bought because you want it, not because you need it. Therefore, buy what you want
Me - I'd buy the car with the spec I wanted in either colour. It would be an easier decision in Rosso Corsa because of the heritage bit, but it wouldn't stop me buying the other one.

Adam - it’s not on PH yet, but there’s one is a Rosso Scud at DL, which you will probably see when you’re there:

Rosso Scuderia was introduced with the Challenge Stradale. It is basically Marlboro fag packet red which was the colour the F1 cars were painted when cigarette advertising was banned (and with Marlboro still pumping millions into the Ferrari F1 team - as they still do). The F1 cars went a darker red metallic in 2007 and the corresponding road car colour is theoretically Rosso F1 2007. Then various other shades since.

It is quite hard to tell Rosso Corsa from Rosso Scuderia unless you are standing in front of one of each side-by-side.

As others have said, the only way to decide is to see for yourself in the flesh.

RS looks great with Sabbia interior

Cgt is correct regarding the world tour 355.
To elaborate more on the Rosso Barchetta colour. I own one of only two Rosso Barchetta 355 spiders in the UK.
This colour was the original colour that enzo ferrari painted his first race and road cars in, like the 125 S. This was because it was the original colour that Alfa Romano raced in when Enzo raced for them in his younger days.
Anyone who follows F1 will know that last year (2020) for one race only to celebrate ferraris 1000th race, they painted there two F1 cars Rosso Barchetta for the Tuscan (Mugello) grand prix in italy.
Any other Rosso came after the original Barchetta red, the red originally referred to as blood red.

Trust you’re well.

I’m getting fairly close to pulling the trigger on a 458 spider and could do with a bit of steer on these colours. I’m interested in a rosso scuderia car, but I’ve not seen it in the metal. They’ve helpfully sent me a few images of corsa and scud side by side, and I think the scud ‘pops’ more, and may actually suit the V8 model more. This could change when I see it in the metal, but it would be good to get a few thoughts from owners (does it impact re-sale etc)?

I have to say that if I hadn’t been told I wouldn’t have noticed it was anything but red. I understand that it came in because it looks more red on TV, and I read something about it looking orange, but I wouldn’t say it looks close to orange in the photos (inside and outside) I have.

Cheers
I had a 458 Italia in rosso scuderia which i sold last year. I absolutely loved the colour, its not an orange just a lighter shade of red compared to corsa and in my opinion it stands out more and is much nicer. I am in the market again now for a 488 and although it wont be the deciding factor i would certainly pick the scud over corsa.

This thread made me wonder how on Earth those who use cosmetics make the choice. Just looked, and Rimmel alone seem to offer a bewildering array of extremely similar reds. Someone here must know a technique or be able to ask someone who does...

I had a Strad in Rosso Scud. I had to put it next to a Rosso Corsa car to tell the difference.

I've had a Scuderia in both, see pics as an example of Scud V Corsa. First pic is Scud. It's brighter with a tiny pop of orange to it. Not sure if anyone mentioned it here but was apparently developed in the early 2000's to make the F1 cars appear a little brighter on TV.

So, I think I can help... (including gratuitous photo of my brace) the front one (F355) is Rosso Corsa... the one behind (612 Scaglietti) is Rosso Scuderia... I love them both the same!

I think the problem here is everyone is sending in pictures, and we know that Rosso Scud was designed to look better on a screen than Rosso Corsa.

The question is whether that matters more than looking better in real life. For that reason alone I’d be saying ‘to hell with the world and all their gawping through glass, this car is for me, and I’m going Rosso Corsa’.

Alternatively, flick a coin and see if the result makes you pleased or disappointed. Always works for me...
