Any recommendations of where to buy new manifolds for an F430?

Standard or aftermarket?

Personally I imported from AP racing ones from the U.S and had them ceramically coated by Zirotech over here.

Just looking for best options from people who have replaced them, any certain brands to avoid etc.

Capristo.

I believe that they're the only aftermarket manifolds to preserve the OEM 4-2-1 pipe geometry.

There's a loud ticking noise on cold start that goes away after about a minute, I'm just looking at worse case scenario but knowing my luck that's what it'll be. I'm hoping to get it looked at over the weekend.

Mine are ok just now but car is going to AV Engineering week after next for a once over anyway. I’ve been given a very reasonable quote for new OEM race headers if I need them. Worth a call.

what is the age and mileage of your car and do you know if it is still on the original ones?

2005 56k miles. Not sure yet if it's still originals until I have it looked at. What kind of lifespan do the originals have?

Bonce of the long.

Am following with interest as my original ones (alright 2nd set replaced under warranty in 2008) are perfect so far (25,000 miles on 'em) and a specialist has advised not to bother replacing (maybe make the mountings a bit more flexible) but there is that nagging doubt in my mind all the time..! Capristo would be the way to go for me, so £5K to fix a problem that may or may not ever arise. my specialist (one of the most renowned in UK) has advised that in well maintained cars they have only ever seen the problem occur once!

That's interesting, I wonder why they needed replaced in 2008 at probably a very low mileage!
My car has a full dealer history but I'm still unsure if the manifolds are original until all the necessary panels are removed to expose them, which looks like being next month as the garage is very busy.

I heard (I think) somewhere in the distant past that the way to tell if they are the mkII versions is if the lampda sensor is on the top (mkII versions) but I could be talking rollox

Which specialist do you use? The manifolds do provoke discussion, the chap I bought my 430 off said that his (mine now) are originals and in 15k miles. Dick Lovett said that they could replace the system for a princely sum but if if there weren't any problems anyway they said don't bother. Another indy said he wouldn't run one without changing them, Graypaul mechanic said its does happen a fair bit and on it goes.

Its not a manual car is it ?

Mine had a noise on start up that i was convinced it was terminal, it sounded like the death rattle. Fearing the worse it was only the manifold to head joint gasket was the issue. I was still not convinced but i did 15K more before i sold it with no issues.

It is something to do with the engine running lean and with a lot of advanced ignition on start up to spark off the cats' so for the 1st minute so i was told.

Has anyone repaired the original manifolds and removed the cats?
I found a company that refurbishes them but they say they've never removed the cats but can do it on request.

hmm, that is an interesting angle as it is the break up of the cats that causes the potential big problem afaik so take them out of the equation and no more stress..!!
