360/F430 owners - I need your help
Discussion
After years of looking and a lot of hard work I’m looking to buy my first prancing horse. Budget of £70k and I want a red/ crema because quite frankly why wouldn’t you.
Looking at manual 360M or F1 430, budgeting circa £4/5k to get a good one very good and sorted and c £3/4K a year to service and sort out niggles.
My question is is this realistic and what would you do from experience. Also are there any cars I’m missing on the mkt from out of the way dealers etc you might not see on the usual sites.
Any help massively appreciated.

Personally think the 360 looks and sounds nicer than the 430 (esp with a CS front bumper). As a result I would go manual 360 - manual is much more fun than F1.
Can’t help you on which sites to check - assuming you are in the UK, I would say PistonHeads and Autotrader plus Collecting Cars auctions should cover it
I think the budget sounds sensible if you use an independent (which I will do going forward, I am fed up with paying main dealer rates)
Good luck - they are great cars

Crema is a nightmare to live with avoid it .
No harm in resale red though.A 360 has a sweeter higher revving 5 valve engine with belts easily accessible from from the cockpit .
430 is a boggo 4 valve parts bin job from Maserati shoe horned in .It’s a tight fit so the exhaust manifolds are squeezed and problematical. It’s not as revy as the 360 , but has chain driven valve gear .You will not notice the extra low down get up and go on U.K. camera riddled pot holed congested roads .
It may feel better over a pint in the camshaft arms to drive a 430 , that’s about it .
Manuals will always be more desirable they add another layer of skills + enjoyment ....if you want .A lot are happy as passenger surrounded by tech , leaving the tech to mask driving skill .
You will tire of sitting there after a while and yearn for something to drive , hand back the balance of the experience back to the driver .
A lot these are just happy passengers and wind up driving McLarens .

F1 is ok if you think of it like a manual and not an auto but at your budget I would go 360 manual.
My car has crema Daytona seats with black inserts, the crema is fine.
I bought my car from Furlonger, had superb service and a good warranty, so maybe give them a call or AV to see if they know of any cars for sale.
Took my 360 for the first drive in 3 months today, at 7500 rpm the engine is spine tingling.

I was in your position 18 months ago. Wanted a manual 360 but ended up with a 430 F1.
I think the interior of the 430 is nicer, but other than that would be happy with either.
The F1 is fine, seems to get caught out at junctions when you think your are going to stop and then don’t. But it’s a hoot on the blast.
Ridiculously fast enough for our roads, even the quiet empty ones.
Bloody love it..
Your budget sounds reasonable.

I had precisely this dilemma recently. I wanted a 360 manual and wound up buying an F430 F1. I didn’t even consider a 360 F1 as I understood the software was hugely improved with the F430. I love the F430, not had a great deal of chance to use it much; if my budget could have stretched to a manual then I would have done that but at 100k plus for a good F430 manual it just wasn’t feasible for me.
The F1 box is very good in the F430. I’ve had a couple of Masers with the Cambiocorsa and DuoSelect respectively, and the Ferrari effort is a great improvement on these. The interior quality is much better in the F430 IMHO (I compared with a 360 which had done a third of the mileage of the F430 I bought).
You need to look at both back to back and decide which works for you. I still wonder whether I should have been more patient and hung on for the right 360 manual, but every time I jump in the F430 the worries fizzle away. The F1 box when it’s thumping home the gears at 8500rpm, feels plenty involving enough to me.
ETA - I see you are from Derbyshire, Nick Cartwright is just round the corner from you.

I had a (red/cream) 360 manual for a while and now have a 430 manual. As you would expect the 430 is incrementally improved in all sorts of areas but not so much as to make you feel short changed by going for the 360 which is immensely capable and realistically as fast on UK roads. I thought the step up from 355 to 360 was more marked although many prefer the 355...
