New Ferrari Option Dealer Pushback
Discussion

There have been stories of dealer option targets and deliveries being delayed with a figure of fifty grand being mentioned
I've heard the same, you also often see it with cars that come up for resale at certain main dealers, they all usually seem to have the same options such as interior carbon and seats etc.I’ve never purchased a new Ferrari but had quite a candid chat with a F salesman about a used car I was interested in.
We discussed the extensive options on the particular used car and I asked if it was true that a buyer might not get a new car if it didn’t have enough options spec’d on it. He said that they do have an options target so would prioritise higher spec’d cars but low spec’d cars are sold but would be at the end of the queue.

It’s total arrogance but you almost have to doff your cap to Ferrari. They have absolute steadfast belief that by buying a Ferrari, you are in a position of privilege and should be bloody grateful! I cannot think of many another brands where this behaviour would take place. Possibly Rolex?
My old man is, well old school. He saw a California and decided he wanted one, saw 'list' price of £145k, said I'll have one in yellow please, as it comes spec wise for £145k. It never came as he 'needed' a carbon dash, better seats, wing shields etc and £175k price. He was over 70 and had no interest in Carbon, harder seats and more badges especially for £30k. We even went to a local specalist who always has new Ferrari's and asked them to.orfer it as they had more sway, probably buy 12 a year. Same result, needed wing shields, bigger wheels etc etc etc
Shame really as he just wanted a new Yellow California and was stood there willing to pay there and then.

I've never experienced this much talked about pushback in any way at all. I totally agree with whoever said that most Ferrari dealers think they're doing you a favour selling you a car, but when it comes to speccing they've never tried to get me to up-spec or sell me on something. One of those Ferrari urban myths I think.

bit of humour regarding Rolex ,7 years ago I broke the link on my Daytona when working in the garden went to Goldsmiths in Lakeside Essex to get it repaired the salesman checked out my paperwork and said the complete watch had to be sent to Rolex workshop when I pointed out it was only the strap and I always wear the the watch he backe down a just accepted the strap when he took it off I ask him to put the cheapest leather strap on it (£7) his face was a picture he had the last laugh when Rolex scapped the whole bracklet and charged me £1200 to renew that was after a 50% discount on the old one . blueg33 said:
Call from HR Owen yesterday - there are now incentives on the F8
These guys couldn't get off their backsides to sell me a 488 spider that was in stock, a trader now as it on the market for £185kwithout the Ferrari warranty (why are people paying over the top right now)
COVID is effecting the buying mentality, let's see what happens when people stop and come to their senses
by the way my Lamborghini came from these guys, BUT that's only because Craig works there, otherwise it would have been bought elsewhere
