Hi all, my 458 spider arrives this week and I am wondering if anyone uses a CTEK charger under the passenger side footwell and if so can I close the door on the cable or do I need to leave the door soft closed ? I have seen an American Ferrari dealer on you tube discuss this and said you can just close the door on the cable ? I emailed CTEK who couldn’t say either way ? Any advice on what you guys are doing would be great thanks

On the 458 you can just close the door on the cable - it fits between the door seal rubbers and doesn't get damaged. I prefer the updated solution on the 488 though as just magnetically clips on the rear bumper by the number plate light which is much easier!

Congrats, I close the door with the wire on the door sill, and have never had any issue.

I open the window a tiny bit and let it run out didn’t want to damage the seal but sounds like what I’m doing is unnecessary!

To quote the manual:

After connecting the battery conditioner to the socket in the
vehicle, run the connection cable under the passenger door on the
front side.

There's even a picture - HTH

For what it is worth, i have found the factory Ferrari charger (CTEK) not up-to the job, this was backed up buy the dealer recently.

I had a issue over Christmas, car is always on the factory charger yet i had a very low battery.

I now use either a Optimate OR a JMP (Motorcycle Brand) Skan 8 and have no issues.

Strange, CTEK's are good piece of kit and seem to work harder than the other 1-LED Ferrari branded charger.

More parasitic drain on v8's that v12's it would seem, so pretty hard on the batteries.

I’ve been using one on a 458 spider since 2013 with zero problems. Are you sure it’s not the battery?

Chances are that 1-LED ferrari branded charger is also made by CTEK.

Why do you need a charger sorry?

Does the 488 need a charger if driving most days?
