Hi.
I'm keen on getting into either a Cali or FF. Cali is more budget friendly.

As we can't get to a dealership, can anyone guide me as to the practicality of the cali.
We have an 8 yr old.

Are the seats comfy enough for long drives, all over the country and even Europe. Also is there room enough for 3 bags for short holiday clothes and stuff?

The FF nails all of these but if the Cali can come close it could make things a lot of easy when selling to my wife!

I have tried to look at youtube but nothing of real use on the Cali. Chris Harris sold me the FF with his video.

Thanks in advance.

We have both cars.

The Cali back seats are best described as occasional. We’ve even had our 6ft tall lad in the back but he had to sit sideways across the seats and the roof was down. He looked rather comical with his head sticking up much further than ours in the front seats.

I can imagine that if either you or your wife are on the short side and your 8 year old is small then you could put the child in the back for a while (until they grow!) but beware that the seat back is very upright even though the squab is nicely hollowed out.

For a sporty 2 seater, the Cali will swallow a lot of luggage provided you aren’t using the rear seats or planning to drop the roof. Even with the roof down, there’s plenty of space for a fortnight’s touring. Things get trickier if you want to use the back seats for passengers and drop the roof.

In comparison, the FF will take 4 adults across continents at pace and in comfort. The FF’s back seats are very comfortable and snug. They are much more ergonomic than the rear bench seats of ‘regular’ cars. The FF has the Cali beaten hands down in every department by a country mile apart from its size and the ability to take the roof off. If that doesn’t matter a huge amount then get the FF.

The FF;
Sounds better
Handles better
Is faster
Has 4wd
Has a nicer interior
Is more comfortable to drive at any speed but especially for long journeys on the motorway
Carries 4 adults and their luggage.

My wife told me that if we ever fall on hard times, the FF will be the last car to go.

I doubt the defence for the Cali will even bother to respond.
Our 8yr old is a big lad. His brothers are 25 and 21 and 6ft 4!
Case Closed.

I've adored the FF and it's practicality is without question. Maybe I can get your wife to speak to mine. I need an advocate.
I would semi-daily it hence the need for regular and 'real' back seats. Also for work, I'm a consultant, non-medical.

Off to my local Ferrari dealer I feel for a test drive when lock-down ends.

I've also learned a lot from your other posts, thanks for sharing.

You’re welcome, and thank you.

Good luck with the test drive and make sure your wife drives it too. I don’t know your car history but if your wife is intimidated by fast/sports cars then the FF has to qualify as one of the easiest and least intimidating super cars there is to drive when you’re pottering along at 5/10ths of its potential.
