458 to Special anyone done it?
Discussion
I'm intrigued as to what the difference is?
I must say it's not something I am looking to do but I'm intrigued as to what the difference can really be over a standard 458 to command double or with the new Collecting cars induced reality another 100 grand on top? I've seen the youtube vids but it's hard to really cut through to exactly what it is that sets them so far apart.
Has anyone made the swap?

I previously had a 458 Italia and now a 458 Speciale.
The Speciale is an improvement in every single way and not just the obvious, more power, less weight etc. Handling, gearshift, brakes, stability on the road, putting down the power etc. are all worlds apart, some niggles fixed too like the on/off nature of the exhaust. If I'm honest my Italia was a slight disappointment after pining after one for so long I'd built it up in my head for it to be better than it was. The Speciale met my expectations and will probably hold on to it for a long, long time.

While the Speciale is a slightly better car on paper, it is clearly the limited factor and the fact that it is the last naturally aspirated ‘special’ version of Ferrari’s V8 range, that commands the extra £100k price tag.
I reckon they will soften a little bit over the next 6 months, but will significantly appreciate in the mid to long term.

They’d usually soften along with most other things over winter, and they’ve already come down a fair amount over the past couple of years I reckon they will soften a little bit over the next 6 months, but will significantly appreciate in the mid to long term.
Also considered a similar move myself some months ago but after speaking to others who have driven and owned both, the general findings were that the 458 Italia is a more enjoyable road car and just as capable on the road. Speciale is harsher, sounds not as good (very minor) and the depreciation per mile would put one of using it.
In the end I stuck with the 458 Italia and kept my cash and invested it, that was a wise decision and in a year or so I will probably add a GT3 991.2 manual to the collection.
