My incoming (subject to inspection) is a 2005 with factory fit Navtrak which Vodafone can find on system but been inactive forever and a day so can't be 'found' on their GPS system.

My insurer wants one fitted so is there a way to reboot the Navtrak or it is fitting a new one and if so who do you guys recommend and how much does it cost roughly these days?

For my Mclaren, I got told I needed the dealer to resurrect it basically as they couldn't communicate with mine (turned out I didn't have one in the first place smile )

But apparently after a period of time the dealer needs to kick them back into action, forgotten the phrase they used. Might be battery on the unit?

For Insurance purposes it will need to have a Thatcham S5 rating. This includes 2 forms of tracking, GPS and cellular triangulation, tamper alert, back-up battery and driver ID cards. If the existing one is 15 years old I would suggest a new one. The Vodafone SVR (stolen vehicle recovery) tracker comes with its own mobile app and the same behind the scenes operational support as Ferrari without the F premium. You can also opt for S5+ which includes imobilizer loom for a few quid more but most people don't go that far.
