I think the battery for my 458 needs replacing. Seems a fairly straightforward DIY job so am looking at recommendations for which battery to go for - do I stick with an OE type battery or take the plunge and go for an Antigravity Lithium battery ? (Seem to recall Taffy went down this route on his 458 ?)

If I go for the latter, will the OE trickle charger still work, or do I need to replace that too ?

Put an Antigravity 60Ah battery in is my advice. The Ferrari charger is not compatible with a Lithium battery however its really not needed with the Antigravity..I refitted the OEM Odessey battery to my 458 when i sold it last week after charging it up on my charger..All Ferraris have high parasitic draw which is why they provide a trickle charger as standard.

Thanks Taffy.

Question 1 - did you need to go through any process to reset the car’s systems after you swapped the batteries ?

Question 2 - how’s the new motor ????

1 . No reset necessary, just plug and play..
2..I love my new 488 as its a step up in all objective areas however i still think history will be kinder to the 458..

I have just fitted a new battery to my F430. I made the mistake of turning the conditioner off at the mains. That drains the battery & knackered mine. I could have got a suitable battery from Halfords. but went for a Odyssey battery... they are the best,. but not cheap.

Thanks Derek. Which Odyssey battery did you go for as there seems to be a few that could work ?

Glad you are pleased with the new car, looking forward to more insights on the differences once you’ve had the chance to drive it some more.
