With all this lock-down I obviously have far too much time to ponder. And thus I cannot make up my mind.
Problem: I like to change cars every 2 or so years. I have owned my beautiful F430 F1 Spider for almost that time. Nothing wrong with it. Low mileage, Looked after well by Ferrari. Worth about £88K. Great sound, great image, more performance than i will ever need
I would like a top quality 458 Spider, but apart from the big price to change, it will be exceptionally tight to get in my garage. I have roller doors, so the gap is problematic.
But what about a Cali T? Same or better performance than a F430, much cheaper than a 458 Spider (even a low mileage young one). But IMHO, not quite the image of a F430 or 458 Spider, nor sounds as good. But younger than my car, thus free servicing for a few more years, 2 year warranty (if purchased at Ferrari) and a bit more modern. Gearbox is more user friendly.
The cheapest option would be to keep my perfect F430 Spider (don't do many miles), but that would not satisfy the itch.
So question, would I be satisfied with a Cali T or would I regret it, sell it and thus lose money? Of course, you are less likely to know that answer than I, but I don't have a crystal ball. What are chaps views of Cali T v F430 Spider?

Having done lot of car looking and also garage building during lockdown, you might consider that altering your garage to widen it might not be too big an issue, and certainly if you're considering the costs of buying a 458 then the building costs would be minimal. Obviously itdependson your garage, but you could feasibly replace the brick pillars with RSJ's or similar, and then fit different doors, giving you more width. Or, if it will fit but is tight, use metal tracks bolted to the ground to centre the car's wheels and so track it in.
Also, if any of this is on finance, you might be surprised at the relative cost difference - my recent quotes were, more or less, the same per month for a £90k F430 and a £150k 458, because of the higher residual on the 458.....

You have an interesting point. Sadly I cannot widen the garage, but could convert it from 2 single doors to a double. Given the cost of a 458 over a F430, changing garage doors is minimal. I did replace them 3 years ago, but the doors, even though they were electric roller, was insignificant. Mind you, it is a double garage and a large RSJ and double door might be rather expensive.Sorry, my F430 Spider is Grigio Silverstone. I have had 4 Rosso Corsa, but wanted a change and now personally find that Grigio Silverstone with Sabia is stunning.

I did the same. Had two large singles but removed a centre brick pillar, had structural calculations done and put in a very heavy steel beam on top. Steel/structural work was around £3k and another £2500 for a high quality large garage door which is wider than a normal double. Can get two V12 Lambos in side by side with ease now!Sorry, my F430 Spider is Grigio Silverstone. Totally agree. I am bored with Rosso. That combination plus the racing seats is great. But not cheap. Would prefer a Giallo rev counter.https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

Yup, great combo. You can see my car in 'Actually drove my F430 yesterday'. Rosso Corsa/Crema is lovely, but common. One's first Ferrari. In my case, the first 4. Went to see another, but fell in love with mine. Now I want a 458, if it went in the garage Gassing Station | Ferrari V8 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
