Thanks very much my old r8 used to fit in the garage ok but only if I reversed in , I felt more comfortable .

I seem to recall that around 80 inches mind you. An extra 10 inch is a lot on my garage 😬

I have a double garage, but with single doors. I defintely need to retract the mirrors as I go through the aperture.

Hi mate

With mirrors out you need an opening of 91" and it will be tight.
If you get a car with optional folding mirrors folded in your looking around 87" which makes things easier.

Less talk about the garage, I assume you have made a purchase so come on share some pictures. biggrin

Keeping my 458 and am on look out for a GT3 and am doing up a property which has a double garage so a safe place to park the pair of 9000rpm beast, still might consider a change to a Speciale if they drop closer to 200k though.

I haven't actually I test drove one as you may have read on OCUK but cant decide overall about spec / budget.

None of the dealers i speak with want to move on price, which in a way is good because it means they may not move on price for others = hold up residual. I just read about a £125k ferrari dealer car being offered at £112k... Seems huge.

not quite sure what to do I never normally stall on buying cars but this is my best car purchase to date and i want to get it right financially and spec.

I keep finding the odd car too with low miles and newer years which is somthing you cant change.

So far these 4 are my list

this was £110k they put it up..

this is my perfect color (no folding mirrors mind)

this was my test drive car but the spec is a bit poor for the ££

This spec is ideal i can live with daytona seats but the carbons are not to bad either, but it just feels to expensive

This one has just made me look , nice year and miles spec is a bit down but

and thats it. I really want to buy a car for end of june for personal reason.

The grey Clinkard car or the black HR Owen ones would get my vote.

My garage was originally fitted with a standard single door although the garage itself was quite a bit wider. When I decided to buy a 458 I went through the same process and realised it was going to be too tight getting it through a single door, in the end I got a company to fit a made to measure Hormann electric door, they did the necessary brick cutting and gave me a door width of 102".

It was me that was offered the 2010 car at the discount. I think I was lucky with the offer with timing but couldn’t sell my self on the spec.

I’ve looked at a lot of the similar cars too you but so far haven’t found one with the spec I want at a price I am comfortable with and a reasonable offer on my R8.

Don't consider option 1 until you've sat in the standard seats. For both my wife and I they are a deal breaker as they forced our shoulders into an unnatural forward hunch.

They may work for you, but were not for us. The carbon fibre race seats in the 458 are surprisingly very comfortable, and I've driven a 10 day continental tour in them with 8 hours a day seat time.

Lamborghini race seats, however, are a legacy from the Inquisition.

It's a great car, best of luck in your search.

So this happened.

Untitled by Ross c, on Flickr

Mirrors folded i have about a inch each side. I have a cunning plan which i saw on here which is to hinge the lower secton of wood support which is really a finisher. This will give me 3 inches each side lower down, the garage lower part of the runner will need to be mounted on the inner wall and overall that will gain me around 1-2 inches each side at door mirror height. If i stick a mirror behind me on the wall i should be able to see as i'm reversing. Its a bit of a faff but cheaper than 4k for a new door. I just want to see how it goes and how comfortable it is and decide from there. Ultimately a double garage door would be handy but i will want it parked close to the wall so we can use the other half of the garage.

My opening is 87 inches iirc.

I’m looking at getting a parking platform for my garage below. Not cheap...but cheaper than repairing dented panels 😁. Good option for tight garage spaces
