Hi all

I would be appreciated if someone can share some experience in getting a 458 LHD thru IVA test.

I am helping a friend who would like to bring his 458 into the UK for good which he owned for 6 years or so back home. However since its outside the EU, it is not as straight forward. I don’t; think. Ideally I would like to use a company with extensive experience in registering , doing iva, or conversions on these kind of cars as I do not wish to get stuck with it.

I am familiar with the standard IVA process but mostly for Japanese imports. I understand that his 458 can apply for basic Iva test due to it being LHD. The speedo can display mph as well kmh and his rear fog light is also factory fitted. The tricky bit is the headlamps which I think I need to swap them with a RHD Version for the correct beam pattern ( am I right?) and they need to be E marked. I do not wish to guess how much a pair of brand new RHD headlights from dealer is going to cost so I wonder how people get around this? Is there a company who charge and can get them thru? Or a loan service for the headlights? I know that with led or hid lights I also need headlight washers installed, but then I am very reluctant to ruin a good genuine bumper and fit any after market components onto it, again how do people get round it?

Lastly since it can be a basic IVA, I understand that the emission and noise test is not applicable, so no need to worry about it being too loud or emission thru the roof, is that correct also?

Thanks for your assistance.

Regards

J

458 was sold in the UK so my understanding it’ll need to meet those emission regulations.

Rear fog can be installed in the existing light clusters or an additional light ‘hung’ from the bumper (can be removed post MOT).

For the headlights are you sure there isn’t a switch / control that switches the beam pattern?

I did read here if your car has Xenons then they are ‘flat’ and don’t need adjusting? https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=15...

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I was under the impression that basic Iva does not require the emission and noise test but the standard IVA will. I might be wrong.

Re head light, I do not know if there is such a function in the cluster to change the beam pattern from LHD to RHD. An someone confirm that for me please?

Good job the rear fog was already a factory fitted feature.

Thanks so much.

When was it first registered?

He's had it for 6 years, but if it wasn't new and is an early one, you may just about squeeze it in on an MOT only as it's 10 years old.

Unfortunately he had it since new, so it’s gonna be quite a wait to avoid the Iva frown
