You may have read in a previous thread that I am currently speccing my F8 Tributo - my dream colour combination is red with a black roof.

I would like to know from seasoned Ferrari owners whether it is worth the £6,700 factory option of a two-tone finish, or whether I should instead have the car sent straight to a vinyl expert such as Topaz and have the roof wrapped black?

(My plan is to send the car for a full PPF wrap anyway as Ferrari only option doesn't cover the entire car)

I have the factory gloss black roof on my 458 and wouldn't have it any other way..I much prefer the two tone however its purely subjective..It seems you're in the same camp and if so stump up the extra for the factory Nero roof..The first GS 458 i enquired about had a wrapped roof and i rejected it on that point alone.
However its so easy to spend other people's money..I think the factory Nero roof will look absolutely stunning with the Rosso Portofino paint..

I also specced the two tone black roof on my 488. My car is bianco avus and I think the contrast roof sets it off really well. I never considered a wrap, and would look for the factory option if buying secondhand.

If you’re spending that much on a car, don’t skimp on an aftermarket roof!
I got factory two-tone on a 488GTB, so have put my money where mouth is…

When I was getting my 488 Spider i considered a black roof and they had one at the dealership professionally wrapped to compare to factory painted and it looked very poor in comparison. That said, in the end I didn’t go for it as I though it looked a little too ‘chav’ on the Rosso Corsa, where’s I think it hugely improves a white or Grigio Silverstone car.
Dealer also agreed that I wouldn’t get a penny back on resale and that it wasn’t a particularly popular choice on red cars in the used market.
I guess it’s the same with your paint choice. Get it because you love it and you’re keeping the car long term.
To a Ferrari connoisseur it may be a noticeable and a unique choice.... to everybody else it’s a red Ferrari.
Think you’re wise to avoid like the plague factory fitted ppf. The Ferrari reds or shockingly soft and badly swirled from delivery so a quality detail and ceramic coating and/or ppf will really need to be done. Most of the RC cars look dreadful at the dealership because of this and need a lot of detailing to come into their own and provide real depth.
Enjoy you new car and looking forward to seeing the pics when it’s delivered next year!

I know you wanted to hear from seasoned Ferrari owners, but you should also consider a used buyers perspective.

Factory is factory, anything else is aftermarket. I walked on a used 488 that had CF effect wrapped exterior elements. IMO, would have been better removing it before resale and presenting the car as was.

If its your dream colour combo, then just make the decision you can best reconcile....... similar to having the Porto launch colour, many apparently would not, but then you're the one thats gonna open the garage door to it and be settling the invoice.
