Used 488 GTB - Is the lift axle a must have
Discussion
I'm looking to buy a 488 GTB and the one I'm considering doesn't have a lift kit, looking around the showroom about four out of five cars did. A quick Google implies that ground clearance is 155mm, which is very slightly less than my 458 Italia, which in 6000 miles has only grounded out once (Austrian side of the Stelvio).
So for normal driving use if I can drive the Italia without the lift axle, should I be OK with the 488 GTB?
Thanks in advance.

Had it on my first 458... never needed it in 2 years and hence didn’t spec on my 488 Spider.
One year on never missed it - not needed on even the biggest speed humps.
I guess only of use if you frequent multi car parks and steep drives. Also lift is not much use when flat out on B roads for any unseen compressions! Just adds weight and something else to potentially go wrong imo.

Thanks for the reply, just what I needed to know. I understand that the lift axle is for low speed use to negotiate obstacles at less than ~15 Mph.
The Austrian side of the Stelvio, is riddled with tour buses, and cyclists. The mostly 180° bends are cambered like something out of a skatepark, hence the 458 grazing its underside at very low speed, due to the camber, whilst avoiding a local minibus coming the other way.
