Good evening, finally picked up the F430 this weekend after a week or so of being to excited to sleep!😂
When driving the car back home yesterday I noticed on the Rev counter display the screen is showing a amber ‘X’ on the dash. The car starts up and displays the ‘Check OK’ symbol then the mode it’s in, such as ‘Sport’ then the ‘X’ appears. Even when using the buttons on the left of the dash to scroll through the menu to display the outside temp for example, the outside temp displays for a few seconds and then the ‘X’ comes back. I’ve not got any engine warning lights or anything like that on in the bottom left cluster either. I’ve checked the manual and it seems to show every icon apart from anything to do with this Amber ‘X’. Now the car has been stood for a while and has also had a flat battery at least once (if not more) and subsequently a new battery fitted. I’ve read a post online about the 360’s showing this message after having flat batteries etc and wonder if this could be similar or something more sinister. Does anyone have ideas what could cause this and how to solve it? I live on the North East coast so if the car needs to be taken to a dealer or specialist if anyone has used anybody good in this area I’d love to know!
It’s worth noting I bourght this car as a bit of a project so I was always expecting issues like this to occur. Many thanks in advance!

I had this problem very briefly years ago with my old 430 when had a flat battery. From memory the recovery company tried to jump start which led to a voltage spike/short and x became present. As car was under warranty, easy reset fix by dealer via their SD2/3. Hence, I think nothing to worry about (that’s what dealer said) although I’m not the most technically minded. Probably/hopefully just a case of finding local specialist with SD3? Enjoy your new car!

If it’s a pre-MY08 car then it can absolutely be fixed with an SD3 - I do it all the time..

My car is a 2005 car so hopefully SD3 should cure it?
