Hi there

So after test driving several 458's and really struggling to find one in both right specification and seem a great example, I finally found one.
The colour may not be too everyone's taste as its rather bright and not the typical red being Giallo Triplo Strato triple layer pearl yellow metallic. In flesh looks incredible.

Its a 2014 car, 14k miles, 2 previous owners, with all right options, carbon race pack, buckets, park sensors, fold mirrors, black roof.

Some pictures:

Though this car was not perfect, in fact something I've not seen on any other 458 and that is the ceramic disc had clearly being over heated in their life as the surface are rather rough, so suspect its eating through pads. The official wear rates were 20% front and 40% rear. I did get a considerable sum of money knocked of due to this, as Ferrari believe they are fine and well within tolerance.

I have a plan regards ceramics, first is to try sintered pad set which are designed to repair ceramics and re-smooth the disc, worth a try, if that fails then a set of surface transforms are £9100, but I know the MD and he can sort me a set for less. smile

Apart from that car drove great, felt really quick and even on Pzero's felt quite planted, though they are a new set all dated 2017.

I have some questions:
1. Is their a Ferrari UK forum, social group or owners group/membership?
2. Do owners fit PS4S? Any improvement over Pzero? Do I need K series PS4S or do owners just fit regular XL PS4S?
3. I have a 4kg Lithium-ION RS30 battery that supports AGM and start/stop technology, is doing a battery swap on 458 as easy as a normal car or will does the car needing coding after a battery and do I call tracker company before doing the swap?
4. Lastly does anyone know the car, the registration is F2 YEL, I can see from google search it attended Donnington May 2nd with Gray Paul and Ferrari GB track day and has attended other car meets.

Looking forward to enjoying ownership! smile

That was the nicest 458 currently for sale in the UK Ferrari dealer network IMO..I recently bought my first 458 in Grigio Silverstone and its truly wonderful..
If you have any issues with your 458 i'm pretty confident they'll be sorted promptly by DL as they are a great dealership to deal with..

That is good to hear, yeah I test drove so many 458's and either spec was not right or car did not feel right.

Hopefully it shall be a reliable car. smile

My only plans are to fit lightweight RS30 Lithium-Ion battery and probably unplug the exhaust valves and maybe fit a nicer sounding exhaust down the road, oh and once the Pzero tyres have had it fit PS4S all round.

Ferrari 458s have a well deserved reputation for being notoriously bombproof in terms of mechanical robustness.Much more so than a Porsche 991.1GT3 as an example..The biggest likely problem they suffer from is leaking magnetorheological dampers which need to be replaced in pairs, which are quite expensive if going with an official Ferrari dealer.
However they can easily be refurbished to as new, for a fraction of the price by companies such as 'Bell classics' who include a year's warranty.

if your local I would keep using DL versus a specialist. I have taken both my 430 and my 458 to them for many years now and they always do a first class job, and if there any little niggles (for example I found a round off hex bolt) that I wasn't pleased about they will rectify with no fuss...

nice car, I saw it up for a while and the price was good for a 2014 as well!

Great car, great colour although I'm biased smile

1. Definitely get over to Club Scuderia
2. I'll probably go P4S next, I don't find the Pirellis bad but they do melt on track
3. Not sure why you want to change, it's a heavy car, saving a few kilos on the battery isn't going to do a lot, if you do do it call the tracking company or they'll call you just when you're upside down in the footwell smile
4. Don't know the car sorry, thought at first it was Ray Furgusons but that wasn't the triple layer, you could contact jtremlett on here, he might have some info

That’s a lovely looking 458 Andrew. Did you get it from Greypaul, Nottingham?
The triple layer yellow looks so much more spectacular than a standard yellow car, and is much rarer to find.
Enjoy it in good health.

Nice! I nearly bought that car in 2016 when I bought my Nero car from DL Swindon. At the time it was priced at £150k and had done 9k miles - they wouldnt budge on the price at that time.

Yeah the prices are very solid on 458's.

Also out of all the cars I was looking out in the past two weeks three of them have sold, seems 458's are the only cars in the market place that are actually selling.

All the Huracans I was looking at are all still for sale and Mclarens not moving either and since I started looking most Mclarens have dropping by 10-20k

I fitted Michelins to my 458 Spider and they were a massive improvement. It seems the Pirellis go off very quickly after a couple of years. Setting off triggered traction control control or had wheel spin. You can get the Michelins in the correct Ferrari k spec and you can also get the correct Michelin tyre pressure sticker for the car to replace thePirelli one. Only a couple of quid from Ferrari parts
