458 fuse removal for Headlamp Washer
Discussion
Does anyone else find it frustrating that the headlamp washers come on with the windscreen wash? I know it is a pretty typical setup, but the 458 is mostly always clean and the headlamp spray just makes a mess.
I see there is a simple fuse to remove - in the glove box. I know it is now an MOT point for HID lamps, so I will need to put it back before a test. However, I have not worked out how to access the fuse.
Has anyone done this? Any tip on how to remove the panel in the glovebox to reveal the fuses?
Many thanks!
You might be looking down the wrong end of a telescope.
The fuse may feed multiple things .
If it does the headlight washers will have a dedicated relay .Its this relay you need to find and pull .
Shown be shown in the owners manual ?
Alternatively if you can locate the tank there will be two motors , a small one for the screen and a more powerful/ bigger for the HL washers , pull a motor wire on this .
Or cut the supply pipe out from this motor if it’s a multipug ( can’t tell which wire does what ) .
Do it in such a way you can reconnect.
Don,t clamp it as the pressure will cause it to blow off in a Sod’s law inaccessible place necessitating a bumper removal, not desirable .
Just connect another pipe and run it outside .
Remember to reconnect it for the mot .
That way the relay and motor are excerised as per the preprogrammed 1/6 or what ever .
Complete isolation via pulling the relay or pulling the motor plug may lead to a ceasure or depending how Ferrari have gone CEL / ECU a dash light on which needs an expensive dealer only laptop to clear , again not good .
