Maybe a stupid question. However I have always resisted spec'ing dark coloured seats (black, navy etc) in any of my Ferrari Spiders as I have been afraid that, because they are dark coloured, they would attract the heat and get hot to the touch on sunny days. As such I have had three crema interiors and one light blue. I am contemplating a purchase and would like to go for black or navy seats but this worry is holding me back. Of course the dealer says that there is no problem but I would appreciate owners' feedback.

Not had a problem myself, but I do leave the roof up when parked.

This. I'd also avoided dark interiors on open cars but now have black in both the 458 Spider and AMV8S. If we're in a hot climate we take a couple of white towels to put over the seats

How often could this realistically be an issue for you?

At the height of this year's heatwave I just started the car and shut the doors to let the air con do its magic for about 2 mins. Job done.

I live in Dubai and have a 458 Spider with black leather. Never been a problem for me, so I can't imagine it being mich of one in the UK. Now, the carbon bit on the steering wheel, that's another story .......

I have black leather in one car and cream leather in another. They are both scorching on a hot day. The colour makes little to no difference.

Thank you all for your various replies. It could be an issue for me because we take the car overseas - Italy etc regularly (but not Dubai !). I get the impression that black is not really a problem.

You're more likely to have problems with the leather shrinking around the instrument binnacle...

Indeed. Happened on both our Porsches and now on the California. All fixed under warranty though, so just inconvenient. Ferrari sales guy told me a common fault on Cali and F12, less so on other models for reasons that were not totally clear.
