Front Lift on 488
Discussion
Kinda hard to gauge really because it's subjective and based on what usage you're going to experience.
Having not owned one, going by photos alone the GT3 looks to be very low. I can see why lift would be essential for most day to day stuff (eg speed bumps)
I had no issues at all with clearance in a 458 without lift. Never once did I even lightly scuff the front. By the same token the F430 would skim some speed bumps if not taken at an angle.
Obviously for peace of mind lift is good, but it could be the case that you end up using it oblivious to the fact the you would've cleared the bump easily anyway.

Don't have it on my 458 Spider nor Speciale, do have it on my F12. Been all over Europe in the Spider and f12 and never needed it. I use it on the F12 occasionally simply because it has it.
I do pre plan/book where I'm parking though (Hotels, premium parking in cities etc). Ferry isn't an issue.

My Speciale had it and I guess I used it (not going to try and scrape in order to try without.. am I...).
That said 458/488 are MUCH better than GT3s that will litterally scrape everywhere if you dont have lift and make some parkings off-limits.
So all in.. is it a MUST as it is on GT3 that you actually plan to use rather than store for flipping purposes (or track extensively without need to drive on common roads) ? No.
Is it a nice thing to have for piece of mind.. yes probably. But i would not shorten the list of possible contender cars like a friend of mine did in order to get it..

As above, ferraris are in a different world to GT3s. I live on a street with multiple random sized bumps and the GT3 was a nightmare, the 458 without lift clears them all no need to think about it. Unless you have an extreme driveway entrance then it certainly isn't a worthwhile option on the 458.
It is reassuring to have as I get the use of several Ferrari’s and without turning from my drive into the road I did clip a 458 without it and it is very close on the 488 without it unless I go at a slight angle. With the lift there are no worries.
Would be more worried about a rear camera so you don’t hit the diffuser on a kerb when reversing.

Depends on where you take your car of course and how hard you drive it but I still managed to ground my 488 at a snails pace in the centre of Esher with the lift raised. Without the lift, you are going to hear the sound of grinding metal.
The problem with the Ferrari lift compared to the Porsche one is that it is very slow acting and the speed at which it auto lowers is too low. If you’re negotiating a series of speed bumps in a 30 limit, you have to keep raising the car. The speed at which it automatically lowers should be 40.
I think it’s an essential option for the sort of driving I do but it’s still going to be impossible to keep the front from grounding. To keep the front spoiler pristine, you have to be successful all the time. One slip and it’s scuffed and it’s not like it’s easily replaced like the rubber lip on a GT3 which for me is a consumable.
