I'm looking at 430 spiders at the moment, and am surprised at the general lack of parking sensors, which is strange because otherwise many cars are extremely well specified.

Does anybody know the reason for this? If I were to get one without sensors, would a third party retrofit impact resale at All?

Just a bit confused as even my basic spec 2006 vantage had them.

I wouldn't be too hung up on them. You can see over the engine and out through the rear grill. Sort of like a rear parking camera but actually attached to your head ;-)

EDIT: Aaah. Spider...

My previous one had parking sensors (and lots of additional options) and is currently for sale at Ferrari Centre Kent. :-)

Most decent indies should have experience installing aftermarket properly by now

Just wondering whether it was a cost or aesthetic thing, as lots of cars seem to have everything - apart from the sensors.

It's a bit of a mundane option, one you don't see whilst driving and doesn't do anything aesthetically for the car.

There is probably also an element of "I don't need parking sensors, I can park blindfolded" too.

I agree with you though, I consider myself a competent driver but I still like having that confirmation of distance when parking.
