Default 355 hitting rev limiter at 2500rpm in every gear

Strange one I cant figure out. My 97 (5.2) 355 starts and idles totally fine. Can drive through all gears but will hit a rev limit in every gear around 2500rpm. If I try to push past this the engine will bounce off a false limit and go no further


I changed both knock sensors, mainly because they were completely perished and needed doing anyway. Also tried a Throttle position sensor neither have made any difference.

Have killed battery on car and done a reset.

Only thing that has changed once is randomly, the 3500rpm false rev limit has changed to 3500rpm and again once lower .... but currently 2500rpm

Car was running totally fine, then suddenly started to do this.

Any ideas ?
