I’m planning a little road trip for May and wanted to know if any 458 owners have had any issues with the width of the car in the standard carriages in the channel tunnel?

Are you limited to standard?

I really advise going for the extra height (and width) carriages. I don't think it costs any extra.

No, I just thought I’d be okay as standard. I’ll book the extra height and width as I don’t want to prang it!!

Even if you book standard height at the port they’ll likely direct you over to the van section which is wider/higher. You should book as a higher vehicle to smooth your way.

Too narrow in the std for a 458 you'll catch the wheels and find it difficult to get round the toilets/ stairs. As others have said book the high carraige

The Chunnel people put cars like these on the lower deck with the trucks and busses. If they don't, just ask. They told me it was policy to make sure wheels don't get caught. There is plenty of room down there. I shared with a Lambo on the way back from Spa.

Yep extra height (and width) carriages is the way to go.

The sound of your wheels being kerbded will stay with you forever.

Book your car as an over height vehicle. You can't rely on being directed to the bigger carriages, especially if they are busy. I would not advise putting a 458 in a standard carriage.

They direct you anyway. No stress to be had
