After Meridien Modena returned my deposit after a year, avoid the disappointment !!!
I’m thinking McLaren might be a better bet, especially if they can have a little more success on the track.....
McLaren WILL be a better bet in terms of getting a car; but that itself tells the story of both manufacturers residuals....I’m thinking McLaren might be a better bet, especially if they can have a little more success on the track.....

I’ve got a 488 Spider on order, due Jan 2019 and I’m being told that the 488 Pista is invitation only, anyone know if that’s true? Would prefer to change my order of course.......
Thanks
Happily I have a Pista confirmed but I wouldn't be surprised if more are released. No question dealers and customers thought Speciale numbers and this has turned out to be optimistic. Thanks
We know it's not an LE car and only Ferrari knows its business plan. However we do know they're marketing wizards. If they can see opportunity they'll be taking it. That said I can see from likely options, Ferrari want big specs so keeping volumes tight presumably helps push juicy margins. I'm in Geneva Tuesday and will play on the configurator, the carbon wheels alone are big money.
Even if Pista production numbers turn out to be tight relative to the Speciale, one other reason for the tight numbers might be the replacement 488 in 2020? and if the promise of Kers is true, it will be a junior LaF. And that will be immense.

I find this whole deposit thing very odd - some dealers seem to ask for deposits pretty randomly almost as if they could use the additional cashflow (no idea how good their client money rules work). I wasn't asked for a deposit until last week, i.e. after dealer had their allocations and actually needed deposits against orders. I’m thinking McLaren might be a better bet, especially if they can have a little more success on the track.....

It is suggested there are also the Pista cars that will be offered to the UK Challenge competitors as a special Tailor Made spec . The Pista is not a limited car like TDF so will probably follow the Speciale in not being overly mad with premiums apart from very first cars, and settle without too much of a loss with use. It also going to be a 250k base price with another 50k in options, so a new price point. Certainly not a cheap car . The spider will be less volumes but again suggested it will not be a limited car unlike the 458 SA . So some will get the Spider if they miss out on coupe.
I am lucky enough to have been confirmed an allocation.
Despite hiving my name on the list and talking for some time about it, my dealer have only asked for a deposit the other day once the allocation was confirmed by the factory.
That to me sounds like the correct practice.
Having done the last couple at the factory Atelier I'm off to Italy to do a Tailor Made in September, cant wait!

I suggest there is an echo in here from around 00:44 this morning...Gassing Station | Ferrari V8 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
