I have a 355 with a Capristo exhaust. It's loud even with the valve closed. I wondered if anyone had tried decibel devil (http://www.decibeldevil.co.uk/) or anything similar on a 355 (or any V8).
The main reason for wanting to do it, is that I live on an estate and I want to be able to go out on early morning runs at the weekend without waking everyone up. Ideally, I would like something that I can put on during the previous evening, then take off when I get to open countryside. Any ideas?

355 with a capristo exhaust is one of the best sounding cars ever. Your neighbours should appreciate the sound!

You can buy decibel killers online. But most will require a hole in the exhaust tip to bolt onto. Some may be clamp on though. They really work, but I wouldn't want to be full throttle with them in.

A capristo lvl 1 is no louder than stock with the valve closed so check what you have....

Don't the valves get stuck on these sometimes?

I asked Scuderia Car parts and the Ferrari Centre and they couldn't tell whether it is a stage 1 or 2, but it isn't a 3. I can tell when the valve is shut, but it's still very loud. I would have to find someone with a 355 with a stock exhaust to check it against.

I have a challenge system on mine which I believe is between a standard and capristo

If your in the Surrey area your more than welcome to have a listen, I have always wanted a capristo in mine but never quite got around to it

It would be good to compare, but I am in Cambridgeshire,

That's a good excuse for a drive out, it's not that far.

I bet you could swap your exhaust with someone who has a standard one

Maybe in the spring!
I don't want to swap my exhaust - it sounds great - I just want it to be quieter while I get it out of the garage and for the first mile. (I can't really push it out of the garage - it is so tight getting it in a position where I can get out of it that I have to steer slightly to the left after I go through the door).
