Search reveals quite a bit of info but a lot of it is old.
What is the current thinking?
Car has a Capristo but its a bit on the quiet side.
I want to avoid CELs.

I presume test pipes would cause issues?

Any suggestions?

No noise limit challenge exhaust (eurospares) - it is what I always wanted to get.
I had a decat and from memory no issues with CEL (was a long time ago)

Yes looks like the one, not sure why so cheap though - I remember 1k, might be misremembering though. I wanted to get it for the weight saving, so can't vouch for sound quality - am sure it is loud though

Off to the classifieds to look at 355s again for the hundreds time since selling mine

Is your exhaust bypass valve opening correctly? Even a "sound 1" Capristo is pretty loud at full chat.

Something's not working properly if you think a Capristo equipped 355 isn't loud - either the car or your ears smile

Valve is opening ok, I think half the problem is its quiet when the valve is closed.

I had the valves wired open - should take care of that problem

Simon it's easy to fit a switch in the cabin to open/ close the valve as you want

Yeah I was reading your post on CS about running a wire to the solenoid. I think I will give that a go. I wonder if its possible to wire it into the sport switch..?

I have the same thing in my 355. Discreet button where the ABS toggle would be on an earlier car.

Just took my 355 (with Capristo) for a blast. It's a lovely exhaust note, very musical and something I'd fully recommend but it's definitely not loud.

Now I am no expert but this does not look like a Capristo?

Its not stock either by the looks of it?

Anyone know what it is?

Looks like a generic type sports exhaust.
Plenty of them available but you're right, its no Capristo...

I always thought it had a Capristo. Its reasonably loud but nothing major.

Looks like an upgrade is on the cards biggrin

One tip - Capristos are graded from 1 to 3 according to volume when the bypass valve is closed. They're all the same volume when the bypass is opened.

Bit of a shame that you missed out on one that went for £1200 on eBay last week.

So I have had the exhaust cover off.. its a Tubi...

Valve does feel a bit gritty and slightly sticky in places so might look at changing that at some point.

A small exhaust leak around the valve too so might be a job for over winter.
