All...

Am considering a bit of an upgrade on my stock 430 Scud. Only mod I currently have is a remote by-pass valve and while it's open the noise is glorious from the get go. Added benefit is that the quiet zone when closed is very useful (also known as wife mode).

My plan is to leave the quiet zone as is with the stock muffler and swap out the stock cats to 200CEL units (yet to be sourced).

Does anyone have experience of this specifically are there any dash lights thrown up and if so how are they managed?

What does it do to the loud channel, is the noise ruined in anyway (too loud) or is it just (as I hope) more of the Scud magic

Thanks in advance...

I have Capristo 200 cell cats and have a permanent CEL for cat efficiency - it will come in wit in 50 mlies if clearning codes regard less of ambient temp. I am going to DMS for a remap and at the same time they will raise the trigger threshold. The car still passes an MOT.

Thanks for clarifying. How do the cats change the sound from stock? Assume you're happy with the result?

I am running a silenced x-pipe rear section, so it isn't stock, but I can say the cats gave more volume without changing the tone too much. Essentially the same but a little louder.

How much louder btw? I've considered them but am concerned it will get me black flagged on almost all tracks.

That's a tough one to answer - I estimate somewhere around 15% with the valves open. It's not massive but is noticeable in or out of the car.

Thanks Mark. That'll probably do it unf. I'll stick with stock.

I would say it would definitely be a no no for track day (unfortunately)

The comments re tone and more sound like it's a good move for me so think I'll give it a go.

Thanks gents.

Wouldn't you be better off changing the manifolds and doing away with the pre-cats?

Scuderia's don't have pre-cats. Instead they use a secondary air injection system.

I believe also a different designed manifold set as well.

You learn something everyday! Let us know how you get on if you do go for the 200 cell cats. Apparently they only have a 5% restriction which greatly improves gas flow. My cats are very old and I'm thinking of the same upgrade before they start breaking up.
