Hi Guys

I heard a 488 drive past past me today. I couldn't believe how quiet it was. I was training to hear some noise but I couldn't. Whats going on is there a quiet button somewhere on this car...is this normal?

My 458 pops and crackles and you can certainly hear me miles away... wink

Turbo engine and regulations probably. Cali t for example is quieter around town and idle but noisier I thought at higher revs. Not had the pleasure of comparing 458/488

If you get the chance test drive a early 458 in race mode they sound like a F1 car on full chat.

EU, US and China noise regs are making cars ever quieter. Many supercars have privacy-valves in the exhaust system. Quiet at low revs and loud at high revs. The stock Huracan sounds like an electric car on idle, and then pops and crackles like mad when you rag it.

I think it's quieter, and more relaxing in traffic, in 'wet' mode

First time I heard a 488 was when one rolled by in the paddock at Passione Ferrari Silverstone last year. I thought it was electric, there was no engine noise at all.

Do Ferrari offer a 'performance exhaust' for these? If not, then aftermarket exhaust is a must IMO.

I think they are a touch quieter when you not on it in the wet and sport modes. I actually prefer the new turbo 488 noise over the 458.

If in doubt buy a Capristo for it, but I don't think many will unless you live near one of those places where everyone crawls round and makes a lot of noise.
