I ordered my first Ferrari in 2015 (a 488) and I was told in February this year that the car would be scheduled for a June/July 2017 build. Is this likely to be a reliable timescale based upon known build schedules? If it is reliable as a build schedule, when might I see the car at the dealers?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Hi im in the same boat as you I think. My car is due build end of May for delivery early June. Im told I will receive emails showing the car travelling down the production line...3 photo's im told. Once the car is built (3 days to build it) it will then be a further 10 days shipping time.

Im hoping to see the car mid June. I was told yesterday that as far as they know the factory are on time with no delays they are aware of, but dealing with Italians is not like dealing with uber-on time germans. Its all about emotion and passion,,,not accurate delivery dates and precision.

Enjoy your 488 when it arrives...its a long time waiting eh...

if I'd locked my spec and paid final deposit in February I'd be too excited to wait three months for a status update !

I wouldn't say my dealer has been exactly attentive. All very pleasant when I call him up and he did make my wife and I very welcome when we went to the dealership to spec the car. However, compared to the service I receive from my Porsche dealer it is quite poor and I am not made to feel that this is a special experience - which of course for my dealer it is not!

News this week is that the Italians are back from their holidays and my car is Code 30 which means it is in paint. The dealer thinks I may even see the car by the end of September.

2 years wait for a 488 is depressing

Seems a long wait for a 488. Some of the recent lease deals at £1400-2000 a month were quoting 10-12 months for delivery.

You're missing the fact that those cars have already been ordered by and allocated to the dealer supplying the lease company months beforehand.

I was hugely over optimistic. Here I am over two months later and now told the car is Code 85 (in storage awaiting shipment). I told the dealer i will book a day off next March to go and collect it - or maybe that is too optimistic also.

Don't worry they will force you to register it in December or apply their 7% price rise in January 2018.

That't too long. A friend ordered one and it did not took him months to receive it. You may check if you have ordered it right from the right place.

From completion to delivery is usually a couple of weeks.

My 488 Spider was ordered December 2015. It's due to the dealer this week having left the factory a couple of days ago.

The status updates I received were as follows.....
24th October - Status 30
8th November - Status 70
13th November - Status 85
14th November - Shipped to dealer.

Not at all sure if that helps anyone, but there you go. I'm hopeful it will be with them today, so I can get my hands on it tomorrow/weekend.

I sincerely hope you enjoy your car. Either I have been given duff information about my build or my paint took longer than expected. I ordered Rosso Corsa Metallic. I hope I won't be far behind you for delivery.

I'm now looking at next week for collection, as the car has not yet arrived with the factory. Not sure what route the driver has taken from Italy.....!

I don't know how long mine was at status 30 prior to my enquiry, but I know it was sent elsewhere for the paint - I went for blu corsa. I was told that a lot of the delays this year were due to anniversary editions being pushed through. Something also seems amiss with the update system. Previously, photo's were issued of cars in build during the process - but when I called down I was shown the system, and nothing had been added for mine. Very strange.

Special paints can tend to add a month or so to delivery, I also heard about the anniversary cars taking priority and pushing 'normal' production back

I was told that I should expect to see some photos during the build but received nothing frown

Yes, I was rather looking forward to those - whoever took the decision to stop them has taken the edge off the process for me. This will be my third F car, but the first built to my spec (one was a brand new dealer car, they specced as a demo but didn't use, and the other was six months old and barely used).

My car is now at the dealers - it arrived yesterday. I won't be able to collect it until Wednesday sadly.
