Hi Guys I thought I'd say hello as I've just added a 458 Italia to the fleet. So far I'm loving it. I'll post some pictures up when I get a good moment... What a car i'm so excited to say the least.

Anything I need to watch out for in terms of running them?

How are they meant to handle? It's a totally different feel to the porker.

My current fleet is a 996 GT3 RS and a Aston Martin DBS Carbon Black Edition.

Cheers

Welcome along, it's a great place with lots of knowledgeable folks, I run a 360 spider and have found this place very helpful
, sounds like you have a nice fleet there, I would very much like a458 spider myself, but alas the funds and the wife if I had them wouldn't allow, enjoy,Mike

Yep, welcome... 360 spider here as well.
Had experience of a 458 spider a few years ago when my late boss had one. Nice car, but I'm a fan of 3 pedals!

You'll find this section of PH full of friendly, helpful people.

I'm slightly biased, I think the 458 is probably peak car. So well done. I'm sure a certain other member will be along to say it doesn't have a carbon tub.

One small (or maybe big thing), when starting up in cold, remember that cold 458 ceramic brakes means actually no brakes. At all. None. So you press the loud pedal and then you press the stop pedal and the loud one works fine and the stop one doesn't at all and you are down to road space to escape in and brown trousers moments if lucky.

Urban myth surely. Or is my car a one off?

Dunno. Anyway I'm careful starting up in the cold nowadays.

Thanks guys I know what you mean about the ceramic brakes I have them on the Aston and the RS and in the rain you have to really stamp on them. But I love the fact that you don't get hardly any brake dust. So please tell me whats the 458 really like to drive regarding over or understeer. Also is there any body roll. I just haven't had the time to enjoy her yet...gutted.

If you're experiencing either understeer or oversteer in a 458 on the road, you're doing it wrong.

On a track, the 458 in standard form tends mainly towards understeer, although you can of course get power oversteer if you turn aids off (even on in "race" mode will allow a bit of angle).

Thanks Andy. I hope to drive the car this weekend weather permitting, but this is just the kind of info that I needed. It's so different from the Porsche GT3 RS as you don't feel like your being pushed into a corner and it feels like you can attack the apex midway through the car as the balance is totally different.

I think I'll need a roadtrip to really get to grips with the car...and don't even get me started on the steering wheel buttons...ha ha ha.

+1 to the above.

458 is a sublime car, you can use it as a daily driver without almost no compromise (parking and other idiots on the road notwithstanding). It is a glorious kart-like driving machine. smile

Hi Guys

I've got a stupid question.

Do all 458's come with rain sensitive windscreen or wipers. I'm not with the car at the moment but need to know as I'm ordering a new windscreen.
